Live Comparisons between the Minelab Manticore Equinox and Nokta Legend

In this video I test the Minelab Manticore and do live test comparisons between the Equinox 800, and the Nokta Legend.
We all had a blast going over the same ground each detector had run over and pulled some great finds.
The Manticore found the most old finds!

Found a nice 1936 Buffalo Nickel only an inch under the soil this week. Was a real nice surprise!! Could hardly believe it!!

If you had along probe you could probe it to see if it is a can or copper fitting.buttheir probably was something else with it.

If you really want to know how your machines stack up against each other, try this: Choose the detectors you wish to test and place the first one on some cardboard boxes or something similar away from most electronic equipment to minimize interference. Get yourself access to an oscilloscope and some wire. Wrap the wire in a coil, the more turns of the wire the better since this is going to be used as an antenna. Connect this coil of wire to the probe of the oscilloscope and position this coil of wire (antenna) about 20 inches from the bottom of the detector's search coil. Turn on the detector you are testing and the oscilloscope. Adjust the scope's timing settings and amplitude settings while you increase or decrease the distance between the antenna and the search coil until you get a stable signal. Look at the size of the signal on the oscilloscope while you change from one transmit mode to another. You might want to take photos so you can compare them later. In addition to getting an idea of the strength of the power from the transmitter (amplitude is the indicator), you will also be able to see the shape of the waveform. Now bring the next detector and you can compare apples to apples as long as the distance is the same. Hopefully, the scope has FFT mode so you can see all of the frequencies being transmitted in multi-synchronous modes and all of the harmonics being developed.

Great hunt! I'm curious to know if you are having any issues with iron falsing? Some are saying they are having a terrible time with it when using the Manticore, thanks.

Hey Kenny! Not one bit! The Manticore is SO much quieter than the Equinox 800! I love it, and it has lots of room to grow and experiment with!🤗

Hey William! The Legend can absolutely compete! It came in #2 in this hunt for great finds. Some may say that’s luck- but they may not understand that we were chasing each others tails the whole time following in each others footsteps and cross-gridding. I love the Legend and think it’s the most underrated machine.😊. You can’t beat the price!!!

Hey East Coast Digs! Thanks for watching! I think the Manticore is a totally different Machine. However, I do think it is quieter, more stable, and deeper. It has some incredible features and lots of room to grow with. I don’t like saying one detector is “better” than another, but if I had a choice of which to use I would choose the Manticore over the Nox most of the time. I’ve spend countless hours with the Nox and love that machine too though.

@@Nwdetectors thanks for the reply, my train of thought to research is what percent of its finds wouldn’t have been found with the nox. If those finds will get it to pay for itself. I’ll continue t get as deep as I can with my nox for now my pockets aren’t deep enough!

Nokta did not seem to do to well here what was the problem?

The Nokta Legend was using the stock 11” coil, while both Minelabs had the larger 15” coils attached. Of course the Minelabs were hitting deeper targets slightly better. We also know nothing about the setting being used on each detector, which can have a major impact on how a machine hits on deeper targets.

Looks like to me that there are items that the legend wasn’t hitting where the minelabs was nailing them.

Minelabs were using the large 15” coils, while the Legend was using the stock 11” coil. Not surprising it wasn’t hitting deep targets as well. We also know nothing about the settings being used on each machine.

The legend shouldn’t have been struggling like it was. Even the 11”coil should hit the items better
