I love the thought that one day Gert will be the older - sorry, the mature - one in a concert like this with a highly gifted young man or woman out of the next generation - and I will have been able to follow him all his way, see him getting better and better. That is what youtube makes a real enrichment to me. Thank you so much for this wonderful arts dialogue and every single concert or heartening little piece of music!

Great, that despite our very own 'year of pest and cholera' musicians find ways to play for us, life, and after the more severe months of total lock down, again in concerthalls and churches. Great to hear you together again - I had the pleasure to hear the two of you before in the Laurenskerk. Great to see this beautiful church still standing strong and in use, after demolish it or find a more commercial exploitation. A pity the other organ was not really shown; I couldn't find anything about it on the internet either. But thanks for a great concert.

Hi Terry - I ended up missing this live concert (work), and after I watched it on Sunday, I see I missed an awesome concert! The finale was just tremendously amazing! Both Martin and Gert were having so much fun, they were grinning like Cheshire cats :) So fun to watch! I feel so blessed to have discovered Gert here, as well meeting and chatting with the extended "family" that watches him every concert. There are so many wonderful people in this "family"!

The experience of an older and a younger organist with such great talents playing together was a triumph, especially their extending the hand of personal and professional friendship in this way. They make a great partnership. But it would be better if we could understand what Martin said. Very few people understand Dutch. Perhaps Marjolein could translate on the chat?
@carlkruyswyk62454 жыл бұрын
There are quite actually quite few people that watch Gert that are bilingual. Those of us that are should start summarizing what Martin says in english. I will try to do some translating in their next concert together.....
@noelbolingbroke-kent30094 жыл бұрын
Thank you Carl. We English have shamefully poor linguistic skills. I, and many others, would like to understand what Martin says. In Vienna, at the State Opera, the words are translated on a small television screen in six languages so that we stupid English can listen to the music and understand the words.
@TerryP19224 жыл бұрын
@@noelbolingbroke-kent3009 I too would like to understand what Martin is saying. I can pick up a few words, but my brain doesn't go that fast with the translations. :)
@shadowman33204 жыл бұрын
@@noelbolingbroke-kent3009 Don't apologize for poor linguistic skills. We Americans are worse, I think. Gert does a fine job and perhaps he could add a translation to Martin's remarks.

Gert, Of course your fans suggest music from time to time. I guess this is as good as any way to communicate. Anyway I can't imagine a greater improvisation effort than to work through Barber's Agnus Dei (Adagio for Strings) opus 11. This is a molto adagio piece for choir with the most amazing and strong efforts from all registers. But I can hear it in an amazing way already with you at the bench. Just a suggestion with so many hymns under your belt.
