Genesis should have depicted their infamous conga-line dance on the cover of 'We Can't Dance'.

They depicted that dance on the covers of both live-albums following it.

Well, for Back in Black you have to admit that they were coming back from the loss of Bon and the black representing the mourning hence makes much more sense than with the Eagles.

I loved Double Platinum as a kid! I couldn't agree more with you Grant! That shiny silver embossed gatefolded double album was amazing! There were lots of changes made on those songs as well. Look into it. From the version of Detriot Rock City to Strutter '78, there are lots of little differences in the versions on this release. My biggest complaint as a kid was, "What happened to the rest of Rock Bottom"??? I thought I got a copy with a mistake on it for years after discovering the full song wasn't really on the album.

Maybe I’m sentimental because I was a kid when they were released, but I’ve always loved Back in Black and For Those About to Rock. They work as companion covers and the music is comparable (Flick of the Switch arguably completes a trilogy). I remember looking at those albums in record stores and loving the embossed logo, etc. The Long Run, which came out around the same time, has a very conservative looking font, which makes it plainer than Back in Black. It was also before the black album joke (Smell the Glove!) and in its time was new and imposing. Martin has expressed his disdain for this AC/DC logo, but I’ve always loved it (as my school notebooks can attest!).

The Aerosmith Hits and Gems were contractual obligations iirc. They had just signed to Geffen, but they still owed Columbia two albums.

Heh! Listen to Martin (re: ABBA Gold)....in trying to agree with Grant, he reaches for his classic, "Yeah, and you don't know what to call it, with the two titles.." Hahaha. And he says that kind of thing a lot, and it's usually followed by "right?" as if everyone agrees. All I have to say is, "Yeah, I guess so, if you're mentally challenged." Honestly, who cares if it says "Greatest Hits" at the bottom, when GOLD is much larger at the center? Like, can you imagine standing there holding the album, and thinking, "Oh no,...good God, I don't know what to call this album! ... I don't understand what they're going for here!". Gold?....Greatest Hits?? Hahahaha. Oh well, what can ya do. This is the life of a Rock writer, and part of the issue with critics in general: always looking for some sort of meaningless manutia to point out. **And btw, "Double Platinum," although not including anything new, save for STRUTTER '78 (which is great), does at least feature remixes of most of the tracks. "Calling Dr. Love" w/Gene's growling intro stands out the most for me, but there were many! And...the chrome reflective cover was fantastic! Brilliant! Jamie: good one with "James Taylor's Greatest Hits!!" Hahaha. Man, you can picture James sitting there all mellow, and just recently losing his hair, saying, "Oh, screw it...just go with white and the titles written down in the middle". Haha Martin: good one with Genesis "We Cant Dance" Man, that one depresses me just by looking at it.

Grant .... AC/DC. I'm kinda sick of explaining this stuff to people who are slightly too young to know. And especially something like this, that you should know: There was a "reason" why BACK IN BLACK was produced that way. Duhhhh...you know this, right? It was in memoriam to Bon Scott. So get off of this "its horrible" nonsense. And then "For Those About To Rock"... that's a great cover which compiments Back In Black very nicely. And actually, FLICK OF THE SWITCH is brilliant as well. Call it the BLACK/GOLD/WHITE trilogy. All of these AC/DC covers are great: HIGH VOLTAGE (both the early Aussie generator/dog version and the wonderful US-UK international w/Angus) LET THERE BE ROCK (both the Aussie Black guitar neck + the International stage shot) POWERAGE IF YOU WANT BLOOD (YOU'VE GOT IT) HIGHWAY TO HELL BIB / FTATR / FOTS (color trilogy) BALLBREAKER The rest of them are definitely "not good," but all of those are excellent!

The Carpenters' Gold: Greatest Hits is basically identical to the ABBA one, so Universal really milked that cover idea. I don't mind it actually (not innovative at all, but sort of classy), but I guess Grant is just a very demanding guy!

Oh God, Popoff is whining about the Use Your illusion artwork now? lol There is nothing at all wrong with that album cover at all. Some people forget art is subjective the last time I checked. Popoff is really the weird one here. Rule of thumb....if Popoff doesn't like it, it's probably really good. Not always but certainly most of the time.

PUMP?? A massive album..... Hahahahaha! Maybe for the lame pop MTV crowd it was. And yeah, it made them a lot of money. After all, people's moms were buying this junk to listen to on their exercise bikes. Anyway, NOT for me. I own it, but it still just sits there, next to the other craptastic titles, Permanent Vacation and Get A Grip. The latter there was the last chance I gave to them back then. Ehhhh... Somebody give these turkeys some GD drugs again. AEROSMITH is a 1973-1982 affair. That's when they were a real, badass band. And they weren't pandering to all of those sing-songy BS tracks like "Love In an Elevator," "Pink," and all of the stupid adjective songs + the stupid country western influenced crap like "What it Takes" too. Feh.... Look, I'm basically just commenting on the LP used for display in this clip. I haven't watched more than 2 minutes of this yet. And ya know, I actually like the cover of PUMP way more than the album itself!
