That’s awesome that you still have the album 💿👍🏾. I bought it back in the day, but got rid of my albums and tapes in favor of cd’s. So I never replaced this until now (I saved this thread 🧵).

Mine too. I was a rapper in the early 80s in the Hunting Park section of North Philly. I learned so much from this track on how to rock a crowd and be at one with the deejay (without hiccups).

Can't think of the name of the break beat AJ is cuttin'....
@albertseanchen79293 жыл бұрын
The name of the sample is “Breakthrough” by Isaac Hayes. What’s significant about it is the beat is really slow. To get the effect you have to play on your turntable at 45 speed instead of 33 for a standard LP.

@@albertseanchen7929 was that on Disco Breaks vol.1?
@albertseanchen79293 жыл бұрын
@@abdal-haqq1688 it’s not on Disco Breaks Volume 1, although I don’t remember exactly 🤔 what was on it, since its been over 40 years 😅. The album 💿 you want is Truck Turner (soundtrack from the movie 🍿, starring Issac Hayes). First track off that album is called Breakthrough which is the jam you want. The break part is at the beginning, but remember…you’ll need to play the turntable at 45rpm’s instead of 33 or it’ll sound slow. I attempted to post a link to Amazon for the album, but after it posted I could not see my reply, leading me to think 🤔 it got deleted. So if you have the link in this thread 🧵 two additional times you’ll have to forgive me 😅.

@@CS-mo7xp if you’re familiar with the breakdance hip hop movie Beat Street from ‘84 Lisa Lee, Sha-Rock and Debbie D have a performance together as US Girls. It takes place during the house party in the South Bronx just before Beat Street and the Bronx Rockers get into “disagreement”.
