I'm from Tennessee USA, in this little town, and it's a dream of mine to be able to see Nicholas Lopez paint in person. The amount of emotion and thought going into his works is other-worldly to me.

acabo de descubrir tu obra y me parece fantástica, Además de que eres magnífico explicando tu técnica , sin guardar nada de lo que haces. Se muestra una persona sencilla y feliz. Mi máxima felicitación.

Thank you Nicholas. I really admire how you can paint a demo while answering questions in an unfamiliar language. Bravo!

I wish more people would ask questions pertaining to the philosophy regarding his painting experience. He (as well as Alvaro) has pointed to such in statements about watercolor as a medium & painting in general. Instead its always ‘What paper, what paint, what tool??’ etc, etc…… For instance, we can see the flow moving from left to right over the top of the representational moment in the painting. Was there something that inspired this that day?? Something he saw & exaggerated? Or something he sees as the image progresses that leads his hand such as the reaction to the action?? Why does he choose the flow downward in other paintings?? What was different in those moments?? Is it just a choice, more aesthetic?? Sometimes an artist simply enjoys the appearance & allows the happy accident to stay in the final image. Does he improvise like jazz??

I once mixed some of the luminescent dot card colors into my lunar black and was astounded to see the duochromes like mauve and scarab beetle can completely change the look of PBK11 (and later found it works the same with pbr11) and even seem to magnetize with the pigment.

Scarab beetle for example would look very cool Nicolas Lopez’s style.
