Are they in La Grange, Texas? If so, I did not know that is where Daryl lives. Wow, cool. Texas definitely has a lot of good music and musicians. Tons of live music here. I sure wish you would review this world class guitar guy from Japan. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJ6liauth7etqLc Here are some lyrics; he is getting better at his English, but he still has some trouble with the letter "r." And, here it is with a big Japanese artist in Japanese. I like them both. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3SyZWaVaJmMjpY Miyavi is an actor, a guitarist/singer, and a style icon (he has affected clothing/fashions/etc.). He started out as a graphic artist. He did not think he was very good at it, and it was really hard. One day he picked up a guitar, and he said, "I am better at this!" "Ey yo, let's go c'mon. We've got no time 2 b down alone. See, the world still goes around the crowds a bounce, dance on the ground. Cuz it don't matter if u r gon b gone or not. Now look at the man in the mirror. Is he a winner? Or just a story teller? U r the only one who knows your errors. Embrace your memory, accept your history. No matter wat, let's dive 3, 2, 1, set, go. Be strong, all 4 your love Tho no escapin fate, im gon make my own frame. Ready 2 face my point of break. U may've lost everything but u gained many things. like the fact u r standin here, y'all got no time let's go."

Preach. I met the whole band back in 1988 (I think it was) while traveling with my dad. We were at the Memphis airport and my dad wanted to go outside and smoke. While we were outside Frank and Dusty came out (both were smokers) then Billy (who didn't smoke) came out and joined us. Of course I recognized the guys but was shocked at how small they were. Billy wasn't as short but they were all so thin. To be fair, I'm 6'5" and was well over 250lbs. so they might have just seemed tiny. ;-) They were incredibly nice and friendly and, somehow, no one else came out and talked to them. This was during the heyday of "Afterburner" and "Eliminator" and all those HUGE videos on MTV (who used to play videos - true story). Totally respect those guys. Stay safe everyone. Cheers from Florida.
@Tazman19664 жыл бұрын
@@kingbrutusxxvi I sat with Billy and had a few bears at a strip club in Houston. Extremely down to earth guy. I didn't make a big deal about who he was but did express my appreciation for his talent and contribution to music. He tipped with $2 bills. This was also in the 80's. Later people started coming in and they were making a big deal about him and he quietly said "that's my cue brother". He got into his pristine, perfectly restored old Ford pickup and went home. Saw him another time at a casino in Louisiana. I spoke to him, introduced my wife, brother and sister in law to him. A few hours later he stopped back by the craps table and addressed us all by name and asked how the table was treating us. I'm 6'4 @250 and yes, he's much smaller than I expected. His personality and character is that of a giant though.

I don’t know if you realized it but the guy who played the third guitar solo with the black guitar is the normal keyboardist. Those guys are super talented. Looks like they had a special guest on organ/piano.
@barryanderson39104 жыл бұрын
Didn't see enough of his face to realize that was him (Eliot Lewis), but I did know he also played guitar. Wikipedia confirms his appearance (with guitar) and adds that he does a number of solos in the other songs from the Gibbons episode. According to IMDB, the guy on the B3 is Mike Flanigin, who has worked with Gibbons before, including on his first solo album. IMDB also credits a Martin Guigui for the piano work. He's listed as a filmmaker, composer, engineer, who also apparently plays piano and B3, and has performed with and recorded with a list of music icons too numerous to list here (including Gibbons). Thanks for pointing out Eliot's guitar appearance here. If not for that comment, I'd never have been motivated to look up the rest. Reading these comments is a continual source of new musical enlightenment.

I will Never tire of this level of talent bringing it all on home to Daryls' House. I get Jamels' decision re the unboxing videos, btw; I've seen some comments from people who enjoyed them, which I did myself. Thing is, this is a working man who has a wife he needs to spend time with, family whom I'm sure he does as well, and a life outside of KZbin. I'm still sending him some Gary Moore and quite frankly don't feel the need to see him open the pkg. People love Jamels' channel because he gives so much of himself into music he's come to love as much as we already do. That's more than enough for me; just keepin' it real. Peace.

Billy's father, was the premiere band leader of Houston from the post war to 1960's. Often playing at the River Oaks country club, and the "Shamrock Hotel" , (the hotel that inspired the climax of "Giant")..I worked at a record store after high school, and was introduced to Billy Gibbons by the owner of the store. Billy and I weren't pals, but bwe had a couple of moments together, once or twice a year. I was pretty hip on music, for an 18-19 year old, and Billy complimented me on it. It was so cool when "Eliminater" came out and for two or three years ,ZZTop was the world class rockin band of PLANET EARTH!! Dusty had a birthday get together, and it went all night, with myself, Randy T. and Dusty the final persons on our feet. Not pals, but very polite, down to earth, and yet, artists, with the gifts of appreciation, that artists have. memories...

I'll tell you what Dusty had a stepdad and a biological dad both of them were there and I cook breakfast before we left when the sun was coming up and Dusty had his eggs over easy and right when I sat down and take my first bite and over easy egg hit me in the forehead and Dusty's laughing cuz he threw it at me and then I took a couple bites and look again and Dusty's asleep in his chair with his other egg on his beard

Honestly, I thought they ranked him rather low, at 32. There are a lot of guitarists that I would have put him above, but they probably had more "impact" as a guitarist. As far as technical ability, Billy should have been in the teens, at least. In my mind, he's on equal footing in the blues with Clapton and King.

@@shaneofthehillpeople Prince lost it because he was not on the list at all, hence his performance with Tom Petty and others doing George Harrison's My Guitar Gently Weeps. So tonight I looked up who does the voting and I found it was mostly real rock gods and music legends voting. It's an impossible list really. Like Glenn Cambell and Roy Clark, masters of their instruments. Eddie Van Halen making his infamous Guitar from junk. Tough choices.

Back in the day, my good friend Tony T., a phenomenal guitarist and vocalist in South Florida, did a cover version of this tune and he used a cordless interface for his guitar so when he played this tune he would go and run around out in the audience. The crowd loved it. It was a great time. It’s amazing to see someone do a quality version of this live. Thanks for reacting to this tune.
