Live differently! Today we have something unique for you: Mo's house, which was furnished according to the motto "everything is possible!". Be curious what awaits you! If you are also interested in a Westwing Homestory, then simply apply to us with a short video: homestories@westwing.de.
In the north of Munich, Mo lives with her family in a wonderful house that is almost reminiscent of a gallery. For them, their interior is special because they put a lot of thought into each piece before they buy it. Much is decided from the heart, resulting in a wild mix of styles, the so-called eclectic furnishing style.
Your furnishings are not searched for, but discovered at exhibitions or flea markets. When new works of art move in, they often create new design or staging islands, which then stay there for a while and are later exchanged again.
Mo begins the house tour in the beloved fireplace room. This is located in the new building of the house, which also made it possible to install the fireplace at floor level. They like to spend time together as a family during the so-called "Happy Hour" when it begins to get dark outside and you can make yourself comfortable together by the fireplace to ring in the evening.
The main square above the fireplace is decorated with a special work of art: her mother's self-painted work! Right next to it is her husband's so-called "Wunderkammer": A shelf full of different bones and skeletons. Where does the preference for the special decoration come from? Mo's husband is a doctor and has developed a special interest in bones and skeletons.
Continue into the large, open kitchen. The eye-catcher is the gallery wall: a collection of pictures and photos from friends and family. They spend a lot of time together in the adjoining dining room, be it for eating or at game nights together. Mo gets her culinary inspiration for these evenings primarily from cookbooks. When choosing the colors in the dining room, they made sure that it was warm and cosy. They have therefore chosen petrol blue as the wall colour, Mo's favorite colour. For them, the blue symbolizes the warmth that you can feel under water. In general, there are no white walls in the house, only white ceilings.
It continues with the living room. Here they deliberately decided against a U-shaped couch landscape, as otherwise the back area would have been in front of the window, which not only takes away the light, but would also cover the beautiful pond in front of the window. Again, there is a lot of art in combination with earth and cognac tones to create warmth and coziness.
Finally, Mo reveals the secret of the red staircase that leads directly to the hallway or the playroom. In the middle of it is a pool table. At that time, they removed the wall to the adjoining study and used glass instead, so that the hallway has more light and can be used as additional living space.
Living differently - that's a priority at Mo. Would the eclectic furnishing style also be something for you?
