You got it right! I have worked as a programmer for subscription based accounting software in he film industry and the plan from the beginning is to trap the customer. When the customer tries to get out that’s when they really get kick in the balls.

I'm an system/database administrator for a couple of our companys' ERP systems (JD Edwards). Funny enough, they call the system administration CNC (configurable network computing). And some of your numbers are a bit off. The big ERP implementations I've been involved with have all been into 7 figures, and multiple years. Granted, these are significantly larger manufacturing companies, but the pricing gets insane quick.

small one person shops, yes i would take on an inventory. It is so easy to forget that you have purchased somthing and buy it all over again
