That turned out great!!! As Im watching I making comments...take another small slab off the bottom, trim back the severity of the front edge and Im absolutely glad you epoxied the cracks...if you had added some color to the epoxy it would have brought out the star crack even more. I love the project. Its a great alternative to “burn” through some firewood.

Appreciate it! Good suggestion! I just got my hands on some pigment so if I could do it again (which I might because I have a bunch of other pieces) I would probably have colored it!

Just wondering what you poured into the opened cracks? Was it food grade?
@WorkingTimbersCo3 жыл бұрын
If cured correctly, epoxy is generally food safe. Just only use it as charcuterie not as a cutting board.

Hey mate. Should I cut my boards when the wood is wet or should I season it for some time?
@WorkingTimbersCo3 жыл бұрын
I always use seasoned wood, the normal 6-10% I’ll usually check with a moisture meter! Thanks for watching!

@@WorkingTimbersCo I've loads of wood from a freshly cut tree. I was wondering if I should begin slabbing when it's wet. I do suppose the added advantage is that it would dry quicker.
@WorkingTimbersCo3 жыл бұрын
Check out Matt Cremona, he has so much more info on slabbing. You usually want to seal the ends to prevent checking and cracking if you can’t slab them right away until you are ready to cut them. You should cut them as soon as you can if you haven’t sealed the ends. Check out his channel
