I know I speak for 99.99999999% of those who comment on your videos when I say that I don't want you to feel obligated to view or in any way to acknowledge the comments ! You need to be focused on the job at hand; getting your home ready for habitation, & you are doing us the favour of letting us share in that, but that doesn't give us the right to expect you to spend your time on stuff that isn't contributing to the real work !!

Calm down. You don’t need to improve anything. We’re all sticking with you. You don’t need to answer, but I’m thrilled when you do, so thanks for that, too. This was huge fun. It’s 1.40am and I’m committed to a Dads taxi run at 7am, so I should have been gone to the far side, over an hour ago. Just keep doing whatever feels right at the time and you won’t go wrong. You bring sunshine into the darkness, just being genuine. That’s a gift and we’re lucky you share it so well. On behalf of all of us, Thank You sooo much.

The "Tyvek" question.....🤨🤨🤨 I was so sure that it didn't matter a shit any which way it was fixed.......but I asked Google ( along with that stupid quizzical look and head tilt ) just to make sure........and tried to 'follow up' with some 'research' on the reason Lou gave with no such luck. Now, watching this, I almost peed my pants. This channel is entertainment at its best🤣🤣🤣🥰....and Makita is losing out big time here😉 edit - I just emailed them😍😍😍

If Roland likes grass seed so much, you might catch him with a tall bucket: if you fix a plastic sheet over the top with a diagonal cut in the centre, the grass seed will be light enough to stay in place over the cut but Roland will fall through as he is tucking in.. my dad used to catch mice that way and Roland is a good bit chunkier

@@mafish7962 I woke up thinking, given his size Roland seems to be a very smart fellow so if I tried to outsmart him this way, I would use the garbage bin he's already familiar with and not cut the plastic for a few days - let him walk over the top and snack away in the middle until he's convinced the strange surface is safe. Then one day, it isn't..

That was excellent, lots and lots of questions answered. Remove Roland's food source then you will have a better chance to catch him with your bait, also don't touch the traps for weeks, rats do not like new things or new scents. I set a spring trap but don't have it sprung, when the rat starts to take the bait i put gloves on and set it, next morning Roland is in it.

Re- Roland. I had a similar problem and rats are pretty much blind. They prefer to get around a room following the walls rather than cross a space the best place for traps ar at those edges hope it helps. Also the rats I cought seemed overly fond of Snickers bbars and you get to chew a bit without the calories.

Soft green :) Soft green goes with the sofa. Don't be afraid of colours but I would suggest green tones since they act as a comfort/relaxing colour. You could go for a softer darker green on the wall towards the storage and and lighter one on the rest. Since you are working soooo hard as you do, make sure you create a realaxing little haven in there for as long as you use it to live in. It doesn't have to be expensive, some paunt, some curtains and some plants. Add some plants to soften the space up. The wall with the window, hang curtains from the roof but not blocking the window, hang in front of the wall, it will soften the room and also act as a soundbarrier. The rails on the roof (system available at a big swedish furniture company amongst others) can alter be used as a system to hang prints and sketches on for further builds, or taken down to be re-used in the house.

We have had rats under our shed, they chewed a hole through a fence panel to get to our apples! We also had a family of them under neath our garden pond. They love fish food, the pellets and I can recommend you get some as it worked for us. They would come out and nab it! They are classed as field rats and we are rural and I expect the same is with Roland. I know you know this and without stating the obvious but the last thing you need is them in the house, obviously. They become quite brazen and will go where the food/warm sources are. If all else fails you may have to put traps outside/inside the house to result in the inevitable. Having said that, you do have multiple access points that at the moment would be a nightmare to block off. They do love grass seed so perhaps you could trap him with that? We had one snuff it in the cavity wall and to say it stank the house out was an understatement! You are out in the sticks, and mice and furry friends are part of the parcel I am afraid. Traps are better as you can release them miles away. We had a dog and it was constantly sniffing out the furry friends so that really helped keep the numbers at bay. Bye the way, I really enjoy the content an banter, the 1% that don't get it need to get stuffed! Good luck and keep the content going after a well earned rest xxx

Oh, Louise, you wicked wicked thing! I hadn’t thought about the Tyvek, or even noticed it was upside down, until you pointed it out and promised to explain the clever reason later. Then you never explained it and ever since I’ve been fretting, wondering was there actually a reason and had I unwittingly screwed up badly with it, at some point. Don’t worry, you’re forgiven. But I’m clever enough to know you know more than I do, so please keep in mind, when you do things like that, it has repercussions for me and people like me. I can’t ever do lives, no idea why, but as soon as you finish, I can watch the recording on YT. I’m about half way through now, having a blast, so thank you both for the belly laughs. The Roland situation is terrifying and I'm with Em all the way. Definitely worth putting a notice on local community Notice Board to see if anyone has a ferret. Years ago my brother who was a woodwork teacher in a very large school in Dublin, had a problem with rats in the woodwork room. One of his students said "Hey sir, can I bring in my pet ferret and he'll sort it". Skeptical but interested he asked the Principal for permission and she agreed. On the day in question (after school) the kid brought the ferret to school in a cloth bag. After releasing him he ran around the room ferreting in corners and in less than a minute returned and dropped a dead R at their feet. He took off again for another scope and returned agsin with a second mort. He took a final run about and this time returned empty handed. Job done, less than 10 mins. The Principal was speechless and the young lad proudly took his pet home after receiving some reward for services. My brother's teacher pals told this story at my brother's wake when he died suddenly aged 50. In the intervening years he had moved to Clare, renovated a cottage just like yours and built a sympathetic 2 story extension and sheds to accommodate his growing family along with their chickens, 2 ponies, 2 goats, 2 pigs, 2 cows and organic garden. He would have loved your project and your channel. So yes...time is precious, waste it wisely! PS. Please give a content warning if you are going to show footage of Roland so I can fast fwd as even video footage terrifies me.

@@miriamkivlehan3498my pleasure 🙏🏻 the squirrel works - 🙋🏻‍♀️😁 only difference is the “Roland” is as blind as a bat poor eyesight hence it goes along edges of walls and grass verges, etc apparently if it wonders anywhere its like a drunk skunk 🤣 also apparently it arrives out in the open at dawn and dusk to get water and food and has a routine route. I know the camper vibe lassies are trying everything but yer man Roland senses any human scent if a trap is touched etc so wise to wear gloves and it is fearful of new things and gets use to it after days - it hates any change also tracking dust near any grass seed or grain is excellent as its fur and feet collects the dust and handy to see it’s coming or going in its route for easier set trapping. See all this knowledge I got from the lads! 😁 think squirrel 🐿️ squirrel 🐿️ 😁🙋🏻‍♀️

I am new to KZbin and have loved watching your videos. They are inspirational. For me, between your channel and Itchy Boots, which Louise referred to I am enjoying relearning what women can do. It may be a worn out theme but I have a suggestion for dealing with the rat. My mother was Irish and lived on a farm in rural Ireland. The scourge of the rat was a familiar story. Like yourselves they would not put poison down because of the other animals. What they did was scare it witless. You can't dispense with strategic thinking as it is in the roof but you need to get angry with it.

Emily I've had a phobia of the dark entering rooms since I was a child ( now in my 60s) I actually need to close curtains or blinds as soon as it gets dark outside 😢 I fully empathize with you. Great channel love your style 😊😊

Missed the live chat. Sorting out the well pump all sorted now 👍. Seeing as AJ has taken over the cabin. I suggest. Calling it the “Kennel” or “The DogHouse”. Been there a few times myself. Great vid again guys. Love to AJ from his fan club. ❤

Sorry, didn't watch live as a bit of an early start here and hate joining mid live. Your "lives", and the regular videos, are so much fun to watch. It's been incredible seeing all you are achieving there in Ireland.

You answered a lot of questions. For the next live chat: you can slow down the chat. So it will be easier for you to read it and catch any questions. You did great!

I just want to say that sexuality is not necessarily connected to interests. I was my dad's 'apprentice' as a kid and I did enjoy being outside with dad, learning how to use tools and how things worked. I also enjoyed learning to sew and crochet with my mum. I enjoyed making things and learning. I'm heterosexual but I don't believe that what you're interested in defines you sexuality or gender. We are all very individual. The more we celebrate people being who they are naturally, the happier the world will be. I don't care if a hetrosexual man likes wearing dresses whilst building house (albeit impractical) everyone should be able to just be themselves.
