It may have something to do with the poor funding for essential services by the city and the closure of fire stations. I don't think that the "city fathers" really care if the whole place goes up in smoke.

What's going on? No money. Broken equipment. Grossly understaffed and they fight more fire in a year than some places do in 10 years. That is what is going on with this department.

Gary Fire has very, very limited resources, both apparatus and manpower. But I must say, they are a hard working department. This building can't be saved no matter how my assets are assigned.

I’m guessing the back area nearest the mini storage box was the kitchen area? What is that still burning in those cages? I’m guessing either natural gas or propane lines had ruptured? Feeding that fire as there is very little black smoke? Best move is to let it burn until the gas can be safely shut off? This is definitely a surround & drown fire with that much roof collapse. Kudos to everyone’s efforts despite the cold/slippery conditions.

Don’t they have mutual aid I’ve seen car fires with more trucks. 2 pumpers and 2 towers and 20 fire fighters. I know the building is lost but theres not a truck or hose line on two sides. I know there are reasons for everything but as a fire fighter I would be concerned about my safety with any response like this. Thanks gore video.

Someone is being lazy you got to keep those filters above the cook's line clean and they should be done twice a week and should be given to the restaurant's dishwasher, so they put easy off on to them and they can put them through the dish machine if not they should be hand washed. Easy off is an oven cleaner when using this cleaner always wear gloves,

I have seen it so many times, make a good stop on a fire, thinking we did a excellent job ! And they tear down the whole building anyway. The days of aggressive , heroic fire fighting is over, if no lives are lost, nobody is injured, and the fire is contained to the building of origin, IT'S A GOOD JOB!
