Mauri/Kaselehlie..i miss most of the perfomance of the other islands at the festpac con and here im watching now this wallis and futunas performance and songs and sound to me its sounds like samoa and kiribas language songs and the sound in my head how i do know by listening to my fathers language of kiribas and even tuvalu island and also tokelau island and nukuoro and kapingahmarangi island too have a similar sound how they talk or sing.if im not mistaken, my father told me that some of the people in kiribas are from samoa. im here in hawaii and somtimes when i show my i.d to a store clerk or cashier here in hawaii some of them ask me if im samoan couse of my last name is neemia and i do know that there are others who have the same name in other part of this world but the diffrents is my brown coconut face and look like an islander hahaha😊🧡👍

Oh nice are you from the outer islands of Pohnpei Nukuoro or Kapingamarangi?
@anonymousanonymous44655 ай бұрын
Kapingamarangi is similar to Tuvalu, Tokelau, Samoans & Tongans language & culture. As for the Nukuoro people, their language & culture are similar to the Cook Islands people specifically the Pukapuka or Rakahanga-Manihiki. As of now, I have noticed the people of Kapingamarangi & nukuoro languages & cultures are blended with Polynesian and Micronesian.

Where is the Marquesas Islands show? I can't find it anywhere on this channel and that's not normal. The Hawaiians and the Marquesans have common ancestors. Do something to resolve this injustice.

Thing with Samoa using teachers is that many are middle aged, so they don’t move as fast and vigorously as the young men would, especially during the fastaupati and war dance, which was a bit lame. At least they were mindful of the time. Overall, they did ok, as did all cultures, except Taiwan. Not trying to be mean, but remind Taiwan it’s not a hip pop show. Wednesday aft - June 12, 2024.

@ltmg98325 ай бұрын
I think it was beautiful regardless of having middle aged people perform. I honestly didn’t see them as ‘not being so timely fast’ as an issue. For me, it hits different when I see the older gen dance. I love it. It captivates the real essense of passion and a certain emotion that the young aren’t able to grapple and take hold of yet when they perform. The middle aged to older gen convey and evoke a mature passion that shows how it well and truly is supposed to be done. I know I’m not Samoan. I’m in fact Tongan - so I prefer authenticity over approval any day. They did really well! 💕
@theephraimite5 ай бұрын
@@ltmg9832 ok, but the young ones would be authentic too, just faster and more vigorous, just like many of us Samoans want, but at least they still got the graceful movements; the fast aspect was lacking. Glad you still enjoyed it. Malo aupito.
@ltmg98325 ай бұрын
@@theephraimite Yes I agree with the young potential being authentic but it does come with comprehension too. The young may understand but majority of the young aren’t at that maturity level. So they’re going to protrude a different vibe. They’re easily more swayed with today’s societal norms atm. Everything is digital and fast paced and we tend to keep with the times either forgetting our cultural roots or feel indifferent about it. I see that within some of our Tongan dances where that’s happening a lot where it’s like Stomp The Yard/Super Bowl half time performance energy. Yes, many would approve because it’s entertaining. But let’s be honest: is it really authentic? No. Perhaps the Samoan delegation were aiming for that specific approach: for a moment in time they taking us back to where it wasn’t tainted with contemporary or modern beats or moves added in there. A time before western civilization and the influences arrived. American Samoa was good too but in the more flashy ways and it’s the usual kind of performances we see nowadays. I hope I’m making sense 🙏🏾
@theephraimite5 ай бұрын
@@ltmg9832 appreciate your positivity and views. Yeah, American Samoa was fast paced as required by some of our dances and they got that right, but the drumming and singing was plastic. They used drums and a trash can. Seriously, a trash can? Again, thanks for sharing your views.
