IITs are currently experiencing a decline in job placements for their students. Recent reports reveal that 36 percent of students at IIT Bombay are struggling to secure a job. Out of around 2,000 students who registered for placements, 700 are yet to secure a job. This is despite the fact that IIT Bombay is the top engineering college in India, and among the best worldwide. Job opportunities for MBA graduates have also plummeted by 55 percent in January this year (2024). Data indicates that graduate unemployment has surged to nearly 30 percent. I've been saying this since I was a teenager. The system is backwards. The company you work for should put you through college, or training in other words, when you put forth the effort and show that you can understand the field and want to progress in it. Especially in the US where you need to be rich to go to college.

No government can provide jobs to a billion people. Ofcourse they can do better and they are trying for exampel new airports, railways, industries will obviously create new jobs BUT we cant survive on jobs alone. People need to get back into enterprise. Not only big industries but small/medium ones. Family driven, community driven or innovation driven business are paramount to create modest wealth among common citizens and should be the primary focus for atleast 20-30% of the graduates.

These foolish will tell you to enhance your skill when jobs are actually low and the Govt to be honest have done very little for this cause. When their own children or they themselves will face that reality they will know what it feels like when you own a skill but you don't have a job to apply, you become desperate for earning, these won't understand unless they face it. Once via Engineering Services almost 800-900 vacancies used to come for the aspirants, but this year it's just 160, these people will tell those officer jobs have been given to private Companies, then I will ask where man!?? Hi Palki, Regarding the engineering degree and job report, as an employer, I agree about the importance of skills. Let me explain. We need skilled engineers, but skills don't depend on any specific institution. Since Covid, reaching out to colleges has become easier, and we can now connect with any college quickly. Before, we mainly hired from IITs, but now we look for talent everywhere without worrying about where they come from. We've noticed that even top students from local colleges are equally talented. They also tend to be more humble and stay with us longer. Just to be clear, we don’t pay them less. However, some companies see this as a chance to hire great talent for less money.

The education given there to those students are not good, most of the students are confused about what to do in life like I was myself very confused, do you know why, because every iit fresher who comes to the college thinks that he wants to do something valuable but when he goes there, he finds very few of the professors actually teach the subjects very clearly, almost none of them care about telling what kind of jobs you will be getting after 4 years because they mostly care about their own research. Now tell me when an 18 year old kid goes to these colleges confused by the whole system, do you really think that each one of them will be able to create jobs for others magically after just 4 years!!!

Too many indian studies subjects that no hands-on work. India needs technicians who can run high-tech types of types of machinery, but most Indians study for the place for the couches. My former classmate has a tech firm with an Indian partner and all employees are Indians. because employing an Engineer costs the lowest in the world as Palki said. 3 years ago my friend said that an RF engineer you can find in Mumbai (where their office is) for 15,000 rupees, experienced Engineers get more.

Just because IIT grads are not getting jobs doesn’t mean other engineers don’t get jobs. IIT is hyper inflated and usually their management itself is responsible for companies not recruiting from them or not being afford them. The professors who have never worked in a company or developed a product advise the youth to accept jobs that will make them work on only new products. They tell them not to take jobs below a minimum artificial wage that they have dreamt up. This is a false story.

Speaking of gender pay gap. It is as simple as they get paid for the revenue they generate. Their payroll is directly proportional to the amount of revenue generated by the respective gender.

It's funny that they acknowledge women's risk averse nature as the reason why they don't invest money as much as men do but don't acknowledge it as a reason for why they supposedly earn less. Men tend to do higher risk higher rewarding job. Even as a man, I can't imagine being in charge of a multi billion dollar company where even the slightest mistake could mean losses of millions and laying off thousands of workers. Maybe with the right training I can do that job but most professional women that I know would refuse to do that. They are risk averse and prefer lower paying safe jobs. There is no pay gap.

Could you please prepare the facts about unemployment percentage for UK /USA universities degree Engineers can be never become unemployed in India but the expectation of starting salary is putting them off. Judiciary is not so popular in Pakistan since it is largely derived from political lawyers elite and some say that concerned court complaining has too many Peoples party backed judges . Complaints and suspicion about graft abound . The allegations by judges is not against army as such , 95 percent army has nothing to do with administration or politics but a side agency of same keeps eye on every one not just judges , even it's own generals .
