আমিও মোহনবাগানের অন্ধ সমর্থক। তবু এই ভদ্রলোকের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা চিরকাল ছিল,আছে এবং থাকবেও। ওনার সমসাময়িক ফুটবলারদের তুলনায় প্রচার হয়তো কিছু কম পেয়েছেন,তবু আবেগের দিক থেকে সত্যি উনি অনেক আগে। খেলার মাঠে ডার্বি চলাকালীন ওনাকে মনে হতো চিরশত্রু তবে খেলার শেষে উনি কখন যে আবার সেই শ্রদ্ধার আসনে ফিরে আসতেন বুঝতেও পারতাম না। উনি কবে, কোথায়,কখন, কি স্বীকৃতি পেলেন সেটার থেকেও বড় কথা চিরশত্রু দলের সমর্থকের মনে শ্রদ্ধার আসনে আসীন হয়ে থাকা। ভালো থাকবেন।

Mana da is a legend. One of my favorite football players. I was born in 1977, the same year as he joined EB. Growing up in Kolkata, although I closely followed football in my childhood, it was mostly through TV and newspaper, only been to the ground a few times. Although I never met him, from what I read and saw of him, he always seemed like a real gentleman and a down to earth person, keeping a low profile (in spite of being one of the greatest footballers of India) and doing his job rather than talking and creating controversies (like Bablu da, for example). Always wondered how he could be in real life and wished I could meet him one day. Thank you XtraTime Bangla for fulfilling my wish. If possible, please do another episode with him. I'm sure he has many interesting stories to share. Those were the golden days of football in the Kolkata maidan which people like me dearly miss. If possible, please do similar episodes with other footballers and cricketers of Bengal from that time. There is nothing gong on in the world of sports right now. This is your perfect opportunity to bring these players from the past to your audience. I am sure a lot of people will love it. How about you do an interview with cricketer Utpal Chatterjee, one of my favorite cricketers from Bengal?

One of the the living legends of Indian Football. A complete defender. Beautiful game sense. Arguably, hardest tackler of his time on both the sides, very good in air, fantastic anticipation and a complete team-man. I saw him in action for the first time in 1984 Nehru Gold Cup held in Eden Gardens, Kolkata. My dad took me to watch India vs Poland match which we lost by 2 goals to 1. I can still can recall, it was Manoranjan da who picked up a loose ball from Indian half, dribbled past 2-3 Polish players and sent a thunderous right-footer from somewhere near their half line, must be from a good 40 yards aimed at first the post. The ball swerved and was about to enter the nets when Polish World Cup goalkeeper Joseph took a full-length dive on his left and palmed the ball partially. Unmarked, Biswajit Bhattacharya came from nowhere and tapped the ball in. There was an immediate volcanic eruption at Eden Gardens as 90000 Indians roared to celebrate the goal . It still gives me goosebumps........ loads of respect and love for Manoranjan da. Stay healthy, stay blessed.
