The first apparent Israeli airstrike on central Beirut in nearly a year of conflict leveled an apartment building early Monday. It came after Israel hit targets across Lebanon and killed dozens of people, as Hezbollah sustained heavy blows to its command structure, including the killing of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah.
Nearly 100 are confirmed dead in several states in the wake of Hurricane Helene, and many communities remain unreachable because of the storm’s impacts. Meanwhile, two named storms are brewing, Issac with is the sixth named storm of the Atlantic Hurricane season, is likely to pose no threat, however another named storm called Joyce is eyeing the Gulf of Mexico.
Vice presidential candidates Ohio Sen. JD Vance (R) and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) will face off in a debate Tuesday for the 2024 election cycle.This will be the only time the candidates meet on stage and simultaneously present their policy positions to the broader American public.
