LIVE: Love Affair Murder Trial - CA v. Monica Sementilli - Day Five

Monica Sementilli is accused of murdering her husband, Fabio Sementilli, because she allegedly wanted to continue her affair with a new man and collect a $1.6 million life insurance policy. Fabio Sementilli was found stabbed to death inside their Woodland Hills home back in January of 2017. Monica Sementilli and her lover, Robert Baker, were arrested six months after the crime. Monica Sementilli is charged with murder and conspiracy. Baker pleaded no contest to the charges against him and was sentenced to life in prison.

This judge is so weird with his way to just stop the questioning without even asking if they have a lot more to ask or if they will be finished in about ten, fifteen minutes. I bet the last witness will come back tomorrow morning, and they will be done in 10 minutes.

I have to wonder about these defence attorneys who have to know their client is clearly guilty but choose to defend them anyway. Then they cross examine the state's key witnesses with a long and repetitious bunch of inane questions that only seems to reinforce their client's guilt. I guess when you have nothing to offer, you have nothing to lose..except your reputation, maybe.

it isn't the job of a defense attorney to consider whether his or her client's innocence. It's their role to keep their client off death row. When the defense lawyer is introduced to his or client, I don't believe the question is asked did you commit the crime you are charged with. What is asked: do you want to plead guilty, innocent, no contest, or insanity. If defense attorney's went in knowing that their client was guilty of heinous crimes, they would probably need to be on medication
