I'm sitting here in Nova Scotia Canada watching your video. You made me laugh out loud when at about 14:20 you said, "We've had a massive frost here", but you are still fishing without having to drill through the ice. I frequently smile to myself when I hear people from my homeland talk about how cold it is and I know it's all relative, but walking your dog at -45°C puts all the "It's bloody cold" comments into perspective. Keep posting, love your videos, especially nice during the winter. Good luck in your future competitions.

Just catching up on some of your videos Jon, Peg 8 I drew it two years in a row on the veterans match and won my section the first time, Mind you it was in the summer. Its a nice peg to fish. But a hard frost doesn't help and you did well to catch what you did on a very hard day. Great to watch how you approached the match. I have also fished peg 45 on Mowlands on a night match and had a few fish but got battered from peg 46 on the paste and he won the match. Great venue. All the best Jon and eat your porridge. Lol

I fished the peg next door just a week later and came 2nd overall with about 70lb I think, catching mostly good F1s on the short pole. Every week's different on that lake!

Another great insight into what you do when the fishing is hard, isn hindsight a great thing I’m sure you were kicking yourself when your pool didn’t fish very well and your other option actually won the match oh dear🙄 Well done on the Daiwa win you really deserved it after drawing that hit and miss peg🥇🥇🥇

Hi Jon, When the going gets tough are you ever tempted to scale down to silvers and develop the swim in the hope small attracts the large? I’ve only just started club matches and I’m probably too negative and start on a short line to get a feel of what fish are about on a basic strung out light rig , single maggot etc as I have to know what my fall back option is if the carp / F1’s / Ide are not playing. You win too much to need to worry about silvers lol but there must be times where you think time weighting for Big vs catch anything during the same period?
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 4 жыл бұрын
There were next to no silvers to catch on the day. This lake isn't prolific for silvers anyway compared to many I know, so the absolute best you'd catch is 10-15lb, and then you'd need to be going some. I fished single and double maggot and F1 gear that's adequate to catch silvers if they were there in numbers, but you needed 50lb to make the top 6 so simply not viable. On another venue then definitely, especially if a lot of skimmers are about.
@dkgambituk
@dkgambituk 4 жыл бұрын
@@JonArthur That's where your significant venue knowledge trumps anything else! I guess sometimes there is only so much you can influence in your swim and then it's down to nature. Good luck for 2021 and have a great Christmas (..fishing if you are allowed out lol)

Is it just me or does it look like your casting and catapulting in a completely different angle to where it lands?
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 4 жыл бұрын
Probably the extra wide angle tricking your eyes. I never fed anything by catapult where I was casting the wagger. I was just loose feeding the pole line. It's 25-30m tight across.
@jamesatkinsfishing
@jamesatkinsfishing 4 жыл бұрын
chould you please show me the difrence between an f1 and a carp ?????
@JonArthur
@JonArthur 4 жыл бұрын
An F1 is a first generation hybrid, usually between a common carp and a crucian carp. You can tell easiest by the lack of barbules on an F1. They rarely go above 3-4lb in most venues.
