Jon do you remember the name of the magic bubblegum flavoured additive for chub in the 80s. It was literally 8 pints of bronze a cup of that stuff and fill your boots. The warm water outflow from Farndon was a fav

In the late 70's the preferred method was a gallon of bronze maggots, a 14' float rod with a four or six No. 4 stick float. The feeder was only used if the float line didn't pay off. Used to catch huge amounts of chub trotting down a couple of rod lengths out from where you waded out to. Sadly those days have gone now.

Great video Jon. I'd love to know where all the good stretches of the Trent are where you can feeder fish on a day ticket, as living in Northampton it's just too far to get the benefit of a membership. I have fished Burton Joyce Road stretch but looking for other areas.
@MiyagiCoarseFishing2 жыл бұрын
The Ultimate Trent Guide by Bob Roberts may be of help. The maps have the names of several controlling clubs and you can go to their websites to find out if day ticket is available.

I've mentioned it on several vids now, but I just set the elastic length I want and then loop to loop some very thick braid (thicker stuff won't cut the elastic) and then adjust it at that end.

Waggler hemp and tares Jon that's what Alistair was fishing as he followed my way of fishing it . Tares 2ft deep and even shallower some really big roach.
@JonArthur2 жыл бұрын
Yep I had the glorious privilege of drawing the scales so had a chat with everyone. He had a nice net of little chunky roach, which I’m sure I could’ve matched had I not sat on the feeder so much, but sadly in hindsight neither of us were going to qualify on the float on the day

@JonArthur2 жыл бұрын
Have to agree. Face probably doesn't fit I would say, although it's hard to see who he could push out as well?
@unionjakjakson2 жыл бұрын
You did very well on the day Jon. I have fished those pegs many times, can be great for skimmers/ Bream, but need another 2ft water on. The waggler can get you some nice Roach and then you will hit Barbel maybe as well. Far over can be a snag pit, so your info was not wrong on that one. On the day, to get double figures, is a top performance. You should be well satisfied. Andy
@JonArthur2 жыл бұрын
Many thanks Andy, just nice to see the float going under
@boansy12 жыл бұрын
Know that area well and yes a light wag approach would have given you a bigger weight there. Some of the deeper pegs are good on the pole but for me this time of year its wag at speed and tip for the lumps.
@JonArthur2 жыл бұрын
Cheers Andy, defo was an option but when a Trent master like Lee tells to definitely fish the pole and not the wag I've got to listen. Wasn't going to win on pole or wag there either way, so it was only a ticking over swim while I prayed for a feeder arrival
@boansy12 жыл бұрын
@@JonArthur Thats true mate and yes good advice from Lee although a wag set up is needed in most areas. Surprised he never said!
@boansy12 жыл бұрын
Most of the pegs where you fished are wade out and you can catch fast to start. Do not go too light on a wag main line as the big fish can rock up and surprise you. Fisk is always a double wag set up for me. Barble come right in close and can come in numbers. Great caster pegs. Its the same all along the ND areas and the roach sport is fantastic late season. Spraying the feeder line with caster, if you can get it out there gives you a good advantage on open and qualifiers.
