@@devinbehrens9931 Not sure what that's about. Ratsbane is not overpriced at $149, and it punches above its weight too. You can pay a lot more for a Rat type pedal. A 5 in 1 type thing from JHS would most likely be $229 considering the Bonsai and Muffuletta.

The KZbin Community believes that every video they watch is SPECIFICALLY made for just them. So when you cover a topic and they feel like they don't agree with your point of view or approach, they get extremely hostile. It doesn't help that, as you mentioned, the socio-political climate these days is pretty tough. Keep doing what you guys do, don't let the people who DON'T like what you do change what you do.

Guys I loved the “How Black Music Changed America video”. Some people just want to complain and share they’re opinions so they feel important. That’s Fine. But the work in that vid was awesome. No boundaries in music man. I’m from North Carolina so I grew up on an excellent mixture of blues, rock, and roots-type music. The color of the person playing didn’t matter it was the emotion. The mojo.

I really enjoyed the Highway 61 episode. I’ve made that trip myself. I’ve studied that history myself, and I think you did a great job telling that story in 30 minutes. The one thing I think you missed is that where the crossroad monument is today is not where the crossroads were in Robert Johnson’s life.

And yet, still spontaneous! Amazing!! The Highway 61 narrative was easy, digestible, considerate and properly focused to the inspiring input from the book. You did not rant. You explained. These shows are fantastic, but I’m spending so much money on pedals and adding to my collection. I love it. The educational stuff is and was my main draw to the show, I’ve come to appreciate Josh and JHS for so much more than a pedal maker. The history is priceless. Two thumbs up! Rocking episode. Josh you rock and music is impossible not to like when one experiences it for so many years. The contrast possible in sounds, from diffent instrument combinations makes music a magical thing in life. From a Stradivarius, human voices, to a snare drum and wah wah. How can one not love sounds and melodies? Music feels like a beautiful language and it can also be a jibberish fun playful language and all that we can imagine it to be. Love peace and happiness.

Love the New and Notable idea. I’d like to see it done per pedal category, so we could see a demonstration of their differences. Choosing an overdrive, for instance, is a massive undertaking, once you’ve watched 4 or 5 videos on it! So a new and notables overdrive episode would be cool, to see. I can imagine you discussing the circuit types and similarities, and it would be coherent. I also like free for all, so you guys do you. You can do no wrong by me.

Oo I just picked up some new pedals too. GFI Systems Specular Reverb 2 and Clockwork Delay 2 as well as a Blackout Effectors Special Twosome Deluxe, And a Neunaber Seraphim mono shimmer Reverb pedal. I got all 4 for only 350$! What a great lady to give such an awesome deal.

I think the “comments” people want to show they are superior because you missed this thing they sort of know but really just show their inability to listen intelligently. Yes, the history of music is complex and many layered but it is not reductive to just focus on one aspect, especially when you clearly defined your point of reference. Also, I love the Flamma Delay…it sits next to my H9 and Nemesis and just brings some different and unique delay flavors to the mix.

As a white history teacher from Ohio (now teaching in California), I appreciate the addressing of how hard it is to teach history and narratives. It is always hard to decide what to include and what not to include without wanting to offend anyone. Also hard because as a teacher, you want to include everything! Love the interviews and allowing people to share their stories! My wife makes fun of how much I get into the episodes. The history of pedals and their intersection with culture is super interesting. Plus the jams 🔥💯

Sorry but our history is offensive! We didn’t much care till after the civil rights movement. Along with that we had some crazy wonderful people that appeared on the seen. it’s terrible it happened but what young people need to understand is that history has a way of repeating itself if we don’t discuss the hard topics and address them then we are setting ourselves up for failure. We have to keep history a live not necessarily tradition. Nor am I responsible for writing history to be honest our jobs as people is to somewhat be a leader even when we think we aren’t. Think of it as anytime you stand up for right your gonna have a fight. The extent to what someone seems worth it to fight is completely dependent on ones desire to be right. Hope that helps some.

I got my Conaglia in yesterday. I am impressed. It’s ridiculously good. The wiring is point to point. The box looks amazing in person. If he starts selling these for $450 the hype would go through the roof. I think people see the lowish price and think it’s a gimmick or something. If ever there was a pedal we are sleeping on it is the Lollygagger Conaglia.

I’m a history teacher. I feel your pain. The ‘story’ is so much more complicated than slogans or political moments. Knowing the boundaries of the story that you are telling is the hardest thing. Before I saw that episode I had never heard of Robert Johnson. Because of that episode I now understand the pivotal role that Johnson and the Delta played in the musical revolution that occurred in the twentieth century. The first lesson we teach about watching documentaries in history is that the creator can’t cover everything. Good creators, such as yourselves, are honest about that!

1. I like this format - the new/notable pedal explorations. Even if it's kind of a quick taste of them, it keeps me aware on a different level than other methods. 2. That hot topic: Agree with you that the internet gets too excited and wants to "well actually" and correct/inject and project when it's not even on topic. While I watched the episode, I began to think: Here's something that's from the vault - so it's past vs. present, I'm not familiar with what the patreon content is (shame on me, I know) and I realized that it was honing in on a narrow subject and had a time limit. With that, I was interested in just hearing what was presented, and not looking for all the things that only I would have thought you left out. To me it was like "This is hwy 61, 101. The quick dose of a broad topic that stays in a narrow lane of delivery, and if you want more, this is the spark of inspiration." Everyone wants to find what 'you missed' based on their knee-jerk responses, instead of thinking about what you were presenting in the first place. Glad you took the time to point this out as a hot topic.

When they weren't in the description, I was like "what the heck Josh, withholding such valuable information"........then I hit play 😂 I cant even begin to imagine the misunderstandings you deal with hahaha

I loved the Highway 61 episode... especially the focus. Concentrating on that narrative put 'the Delta' into geographic and historical perspective for me. My uncle used to come back from his merchant marine trips to the US in the late 50's and early 60's and play the 'black music' (and jazz) he was into, so I was making the same journey of discovery that Keef, Eric, Jeff, and all the Brits did (albeit I was much younger) here in Australia, where we thought of ourselves as a little British outpost. Yes there's many, many more 'moving parts' to the story of 'rock and roll', but just as one might concentrate *just* on 'clipping diodes' as one story in the history of 'overdrive', drilling down and creating a coherent narrative is hard; I think you got it pretty 'right'. Once one hears/sees *all* the stories (which I'm sure/hope you're working on), then perhaps folks will appreciate the way a rich tapestry of interwoven stories comes together to inform a history that is far more nuanced than if you just started at the beginning and chronologically listed *every* event, slavishly omitting *nothing*. My 2c. I really liked how you made Dylan a centrepiece, because I remember my father lamenting the 'blasphemy' of Highway 61, which my uncle and I loved :-) BTW... I *nearly spilt the tea* when Josh started singing the South Park-esqe "Goin' down to NASCAR" tune, because I had *just* watched the SP episode where Cartman wants to drive NASCAR but fears he is "just too smart and too rich"! ISYN! Josh's gotta check that out if he hasn't seen it... spooky.

June 30th was an interesting/exciting day because one of my best friends had his first child. And MSU (which live 24 miles away from) won the College World Series today.

I think the delay is called nascar because the noise at a race can be a bit like a delay. Imagine you standing at an oval and 4 cars go by. You first hear the leading car go wrooooom from afar until it passes your position but from the following cars you just hear oom oom oom as the fly by because the leading car droned over their noises by beeing closer to you. The first car is the lick you hear clearly and the following cars are the repeats

To the Hot Topix question, I think the confusion was the title. It was very broad ie here is the complete history of black americas contribution to rock music. This would require an approach of REALLY long or a mile wide and an inch deep. Instead this was like black americas contribution to rock music: part 124 - the story of highway 61. Hope that makes sense. Great episode. Great show. Keep it up.

If you can see Low in concert, I highly recommend. I saw them at the Rockefeller Chapel in Chicago when Double Negative came out... brilliant. Nothing like sitting in a pew being bathed in rolling noise.

Josh & team, you produce content for a willing and returning audience (+300K subscribers). You should avoid taking posted comments (eve this one ;-) ) too seriously. Remember, the majority of people does not know the amount of work and thought and energy you put into producing the material that you do.
