Though I belong to Indian Kashmir, after observing the political dramas unfolding in Pakistan day after day, I feel immensely proud that our part of Kashmir is part of India and not that of banana republic of Pakistan. Recently, free and fair elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir, and the people had the opportunity to choose their government. Believe me, we enjoy every kind of facility here, and when we look at the situation in Pakistan, it gives us goosebumps. Such chaos hasn’t occurred in Kashmir even during insurgency The spectacle of constitutional amendments in Pakistan, carried out in what seems to be a 'prostitutional' manner, makes me laugh and, at the same time, feel pity for the common Pakistanis who are being ruled by such leaders. This amendment of the constitution to weaken its authority and make the judiciary subservient to the very same individuals who have looted the country for decades is going to spoil Pakistan. In every democratic country principle of separation of powers is followed and independent judiciary maintains checks and balances. The judiciary inbpakitan will be controlled by military generals or the executive, it will become nearly impossible now for judiciary to uphold the rule of law and protect fundamental rights. The judiciary is meant to be an independent branch of government, serving as a check on the executive and legislative branches. Without this independence, the judiciary cannot make impartial decisions, and it compromises its ability to fairly interpret laws and safeguard citizens' rights. Instead, it may prioritize the interests of the powerful, leading to selective justice and inequality. A judiciary that is subservient to the executive or military is likely to overlook or even justify human rights violations, unlawful detentions, and crackdowns on freedom of speech. When this happens, it ceases to act as a guardian of the constitution.I don't understand how a country like Pakistan, already facing severe financial crises, can expect to move forward under such circumstances. Without a strong and independent judiciary, the rule of law crumbles, and any hope for progress and stability becomes uncertain. Today I have realised that our ancestors had taken a right decision when they decided to become part of India and not of Pakistan, otherwise we would have been facing the same attrocities which common Pakistanis are facing right now at the hands of its military and elite
