What a great episode! The candor, the insights. As all of your stuff it’s the material that you can go back many times and find more wisdom.

I'm shocked that neither of you know little (or nothing) of Saphir mirror gloss! It is a very specific but verry coveted product by many people. It is one of a kind with an incredible result if applied correctly. there is an entire following, competitions, controversies, and entire guides of which leathers and tannages behavior around this grail paste. shell is a big point of contention in regards of applicability.

I just got some Saphir mirror gloss, that stuff is crazy good. Over the last few years I've been getting more and more into leather quality, tanning processes, etc...and I just recently heard about mirror gloss. A little goes a long way for sure. I think Nick answered the mirror shine question well enough- wax will sit up more on shell since it's so dense, true from my experience, can only use in specific areas/shoes. I'm a casual dude and I assume Phil and Nick are as well, based on their own words in past podcasts, therefore the need for mirror gloss is very minimal. Mr. Kirby Allison can answer all the mirror shine questions though, he creates good content. Just a difference between casual dressing dudes and aristocratic dressing dudes.
