Labour? - Never again! That's what we all said in the 1970s, after the strikes and three-day week. Refuse was piled up in the streets, with rats running around. Bodies were unable to be buried. PM Callaghan landed back from some foreign jaunt at Heathrow and made history for his unconcerned quip, "Crisis! What crisis?" I am old enough to remember Harold Wilson announcing in a TV broadcast that he was going to de-value the pound! He spent most of the airtime in reassuring us we wouldn't notice the difference. More recently we had the outgoing Labour Chancellor, Liam Byrne, leaving a note in the Treasury saying "Good luck, there's no money left." It only takes a couple of generations for all this failure to be forgotten. And that the Labour party are congenitally predisposed towards "tax and spend". That's because the millennials and gen z's never look at history, or listen to older people with lived experience. This time I fear Labour will actually bankrupt the country
