Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the first sin was my first Fromsoft game and how I found you! This game is pretty great compared to the first but that’s my view. By the way I started my play through with you Friday. I’m killing it with a rapier. Never ever used one, but I’m liking it with the sentry curved sword. Bummer is over winter I played it with a dex build. But I’m using new weapons to give new thrills

My comment probably got flagged but you forgot to install Main Bug Fix file which fixes the hard crash in the Ivory King dld. Story is that I accidentally overloaded the map with too many objects. Anyway for next time when you get back to this mod, download the first file in Update section. Open the file and the folder inside it. There is a folder called “map”, drag and drop “map” folder into SeekerOfFire_2 and copy and replace/overwrite everything inside. You have the other updates and lighting engine installed correctly so I don’t want you overwriting those. Hopefully in the future when you do encounter the dlc, there will be no issue. Anyway, loved your stream! I was nervous whether you would like my mod or not. Glad you are having a blast with it. Seeker of Fire was my love project for Ds2.

⁠@@FightinCowboyI’d probably just replace those map files for good safe measure. I secretly updated other map details only I would only notice, like extra trees in the beginning of things betwixt. But I didn’t see those trees so I assumed you didn’t have it installed. I will upload in the miscellaneous section of the mod for you to download instead and maybe link it here, so it’s an drag and drop process for you to install.

Facts brother . Dark souls 2 gets so much hate for no reason imo . I love it and it’s my favorite walkthrough you’ve ever done I play it once or twice a year

"For no reason".... Really? No reason eh? None at all? Not the relentless enemy mob spam? Not the dodgy hit boxes? Not the atrocious world geometry? The overuse of cheap traps? Poorly explained mechanics such as ADP? Lazy copy pasted boss designs? Enemy animations and weapon degradation being affected by frame rate? The focus system that bugs out and targets enemies that aren't even on screen? Focus also failing to aim attacks correctly which is it's primary purpose? The inconsistent and broken backstabs? The janky movement that incorporates "snap points"? You might like the game but don't blatantly lie and pretend you're not aware of the issues that this game has.

I'm a huge DS2 fanboy, it's what got me into the franchise, but "no reason" just isn't correct. SOME of the hate is justified. It definitely gets blown out of proportion though.

@@dredd2235hitboxes are directly tied to ADP. I don’t like ADP that much, but it’s also kind of a non issue since you can just rush it to level 20-25 early on, and never touch it again. You also level a lot more quickly in DS2, so it really shouldn’t be that bad. But yeah “no reason” lol please, a true souls fan realizes that every souls game has some bullshit.

So cool that after 1000's of hours in Souls games that we all still get that sense of accomplishment when beating a boss that took a few tries. CB looked so happy he beat the Pursuer. Few games can replicate that feeling, let alone when replaying the game for the nth time.

Dark Souls 2 is the best one for me. I agree. I played Demon Souls and DS1 but DS2 is when I fell.in love with it so with DS3 and Elden Ring I was properly seasoned. Must have done at least 10 playthroughs on DS2 Inc the DLC before I moved on.

I'm in the same boat as cowboy regarding Dark Souls 2, started playing both ds1 & 2 back in 2014 but ds2 manage to left a better impression on me. Plus, I feel like the excessive lore dump in ds1 throughout the game is kinda overwhelming to me as a souls newbie back then and I played the original crappy pc version that you have to download a bunch of mods to even make the framerate stable and fullscreen gameplay. Whereas for me, ds2 is much more enjoyable and has smoother gameplay.

I just finished Dark Souls 2 base game. I did enjoy some parts of it, and the ideas they put in the game were great. But I didn’t really feel anything after beating Nashandra. I will probably attempt the DLC stuff. The boss runbacks I heard about, I was really dreading like Iron Keep but tbh I didn’t struggle that much with it. I think ALL souls game are good, this is my least favourite so far out of all them but this game doesn’t deserve the amount of hate it gets tbh. It is a good game.

My replay of DS2 came to a sudden halt in Shaded Woods in the mist. I have done it before and knew what to expect but this time I literally could not see anything. Not sure if it was my monitor or just me getting older. I really hope this mod addresses that section in some way to make it more bearable.

Dark souls 2 is my favorite souls game. Many players think it is the worst one and I hate it when people say it was built by a 'B' team. I think the team who built it was awesome; they introduced so many features and creative material and environment, many of these ideas were used in subsequent games by fromsoftware. Also what many players considered negative things like the health reduction in death and weapon durability, I think they made the game more interesting and forced the player to be more careful and strategize better, rather than spamming R2 button.

DS1 is my favorite since it's a first souls game I played so it's special to me. DS2 comes close. DS3 was ok, but lacking compared to first two. Just too linear, no sense of getting lost in the game.

God I hated this game. To each their own and I know it has a lot of great ideas that helped the series but.. it just felt like the devs thought, making the game harder was going to make the game better. DS2 just feels like it’s a game designed to mess with you, rather than teach and challenge you. Just flood the area with more enemies, gank ambushes, traps, long runs with ridiculous layouts. I beat it and all the DLC content but never had a thought to ever replay it. It’s the only fromsoftware game that I haven’t replayed lol.
