Great video. I have a question I haven't been able to find an answer to. Can I connect Mixer > Powered speaker > daisy-chained passive speaker ? Thanks

I have a powered mixer and huge speakers. They are both heavy and bulky. I have used for my 5 piece band. Do you recommend keeping because if it's not broken don't fix it or should I get something lighter.

I am interested in hearing about how you promote yourself as a live sound operator and how you get work. I have a small PA system but I haven't done much yet to put myself "in the way" of performing musicians who might need work, and I am wondering - do you introduce yourself to a lot of bands? Do you already happen to know people who perform? Or do you hand out business cards to the venue owners? Or do you advertise online or in classified ads?

Hey, great video thanks. In the case where you had electric drums and the guitars/bass didn't have their own amps, is there anything different to note about putting everything through the PA?
@liceafilms6 жыл бұрын
Was wondering the same, should there be extra power running to the speakers to accommodate for the extra lines running through the PA?..
@Acoustic_Theory6 жыл бұрын
@@liceafilms and Radsy - If everything is electronic, then you will be using mostly DI boxes to take the electric signal from the instrument (which is unbalanced, consisting of one signal wire and one ground wire, for two conductors total - a TS or RCA type connector) and convert that to a balanced signal (two signal wires carrying opposite polarity signals and one ground terminal, for the classic 3-pin XLR connector) for long-distance transmission over the snake cable to the board. So you will need more DIs and fewer microphones. It is a good idea to use physically larger speakers (which may or may not also have a more powerful amplifier behind them) if they will be making most or all of the instrument sounds for the audience, and you may also need stage monitors so the other performers can hear the electronic instruments. The more important thing that is different is you will want a speaker with more low end bandwidth (frequency response that begins at a lower frequency) to amplify the bass guitar and drums to acceptable levels. So if you were using a 10" or 12" size main speaker, you would want a 15" main speaker, or you would want to supplement the 10" or 12" main speaker with a "subwoofer", which is a separate speaker whose only job is to play deep bass frequencies that the main speakers may not handle effectively.

Also what’s the difference between a mixer and a PA?

nice job

So it’s essentially one big circle right?
@bartrademakers24865 жыл бұрын
Well, no. Since that would soon cause a hell of feedback. - It's 2 (or more) very different mixes from the same source
