Love sharpcap when I started since then I have purchased a few ASIAIR and probably won’t go back it makes things easier for me. I know it boxes me in but I only use zwo products so it was a no brainer for me. Great video still have sharpcap it is an exceptional value for what you get take care

Again, a good, impartial, helpful video on capturing and live capturing, plus. Easily. Thanks to your 'top drawer" explanations, and using your earlier remote router+mini PC setup video and recs, I replaced my 15 meter USB setup (which remains, for me, pretty easy at home) with an alternative remote access & control for the field. Cost for my Mini PC + GLi Router setup, ~170 bucks. A powerhouse for the frugal. For me, at least, your approach achieves the optimum.

Thanks for video Curtis. What is the best camera for planetary /hydrogen alpha solar EAA? For deep sky I have the Unistellar telescope which does a great job for DSO but not suitable at all for planetary. Thanks for making this informational youtube channel.

Curtis, thank you for your effort to bring this form of astronomy to us amateurs and wannabes. What advantages do you see of the remote solutions you have used and ably describe compared to the ASIAIR. Two devices to do what asiair does? I can see having that little router by itself could be useful. What are your thoughts over the asiair? Again, thank you very much!
@astronomytipsreviewswithcu740 Жыл бұрын
I have nothing against the ASIAIR and know that many people like it a lot. I prefer the mini-pc as it is much more powerful with lots more storage compared to the ASIAIR which is a Raspberry Pi computer with little data storage. With a mini-pc you can decide what you want and how much to spend and they are not more expensive than the ASIAIR. As for the router, I have it attached to the mini-pc and treat the two as a single unit. So once set up it really is a single device for me. The router has a much longer WiFi range than the ASIAIR which is a big advantage. I can sit far away from my rig, at least 100 feet and still stay connected. I can also sit inside my RV and stay connected. You cannot do either of those with the ASIAIR's minimal WiFi range.

Iˋm missing the different implementations on a Raspberry Pi like Astroberry? Do you have any experience with this implementitions?

Hoping you can answer this question for me, if not no worries! I am running A raspberry pi 4 8gb to run ekos/kstars to control my rig. I remote in through my laptop via VNC connection to have complete control over the RaspPi. Do you know if its possible to automatically save the images taken to my laptop thats connected via web browser? That seems to be the only way I can live stack with my current setup.
@astronomytipsreviewswithcu740 Жыл бұрын
I remote to a mini-pc but run everything on the mini-pc including the live stacking. But I do think folks have been able to do what you want to do. Check on the Cloudy Nights forum.

Contrary to what is stated in the description, the free version of SharpCap does not have the live-stacking capability. The paid Pro version does that.
@astronomytipsreviewswithcu740 Жыл бұрын
You should check the SharpCap web site if you don't believe me. Live stacking is definitely included in the Free Version. Maybe you are thinking of Dark Frame Subtraction which is only available in the paid version.

what's with the mic feedback?
@astronomytipsreviewswithcu740 Жыл бұрын
I had not noticed that and had to turn up the volume quite a bit to detect it. But you are right, there is a low level hum between 1 and 4.5min. Thanks for pointing that out so I can watch out for that in the future. Still have no idea what caused it.
