**CHECK DESCRIPTION FOR UPDATED TUTORIAL VIDEO** It's much better. --- Just a reminder, there is a step by step process in the description written in text, if you want to follow that. And to make note of this particular step as it has helped some people who might be getting stuck. 8. MAKE SURE REASTREAM.DLL FILE IS COPIED INTO Program Files/Steinberg/VSTPlugins or Program Files/VSTPlugins I think OBS reads VSTs specifically from one of those folders. And for your convenience 0:34 is where the tutorial begins.

Cheers...there are quite a few articles and videos, like that, which explain how to send a stream FROM Reaper - which is what I already do. What I want is to duel stream by bringing a stream INTO Reaper - so I want to bring a stream in on one of the channels, mix with other channels (guitar and vocals) and then send out to SEcond Life as I currently do.
@GrymOfficial
@GrymOfficial 4 жыл бұрын
Oh wow, so essentially you want to have all stream audio routed INTO Reaper, mix with other audio you have in Reaper, and then have it all routed OUT to Second Life? You might be able to have your OBS desktop audio set to a Virtual Cable / Voice Meter output - to which you set as the 'Input' on a track in Reaper. And then in Reaper have the master output / audio device output set to Second Life (or whatever input you may use for sound to be transmitted into the game). I am trying to wrap my head around it all just typing that, haha. I haven't tried to route audio like that before. Hopefully you can find a way to do it. I am sure there is a way!

I had just found you on twitch the other day and the stream was awesome. I've been having trouble with this myself for awhile now and I'm still getting the raw guitar sound with the distortion (very noticable with chorded tremolo picking). Thanks man! Oh yeah, I know what you are talking about. Like the clean signal of the guitar is also mixed with the distortion sound of the VST yeah? What VST do you use for distortion? I know that with something like Guitar Rig, you may have to disable monitoring in the Guitar Rig / VST interface itself. So you only want to be monitoring the Reaper Track. It could also be that your audio device has monitoring enabled, maybe a button or switch. Could be a combination of both!

Love your channel and appreciate this vid Grym! I know the Nameless sounds great but is there any reason you don't use the Helix for guitar? Where do you run your mic xlr? Hey Brian, thanks for the message. I originally got the Helix so I had an all in one rig for live shows in venues. I don't currently have any live shows booked, so I never got around to creating a tone on the unit itself. Plus at the time, for streaming, the Fortin tone I was quite happy with. Since this video, I have recently created a Helix tone which I am now currently using all the time. And I much prefer it for the ability to switch to other tones using the footswitches. In fact, I will upload my tone into my VST/IR's channel on discord here - discord.gg/5S3jsjF My microphone is actually running through a GOXLR unit and not the Helix. I only have the guitar running through the Helix and I use XLR outs for my studio monitors, as the 1/4" outs created static in the speakers. When I am streaming I am using an XVIVE U4 wireless unit with Shure in ears. The receiver of the unit is actually plugged into the 1/4" Left output (mono). As it's only a mono wireless in ear system, and the headphones output is busted. Just sounds crap with everything I plug into it. The Helix certainly has it's quirks, but overall it's serving me well. But yeah this video serves as a way for people to use any old audio device, as long as they have some type of VST they can stream music! Thanks for the question and kind words!

Great video. Just came from your twitch stream tonight. Good to see how it all works on the other side! I subscribed here on KZbin as well! It’d be really cool if you did a tutorial on your awesome backgrounds/effects. Do you make them in Microsoft Paint? (More like Microsoft Slab)... or do you mostly use affinity? Do you key them in somehow like you would in video software? I was wondering how you dissolve into thin air. Pretty complex stuff to do while live. Keep up the awesome creativity!

Could you plug in two guitars into the same interface and do this in the same room for a live stream? Or, would you have to have a physical usb mixer ? That would lead to another question of amp sims and vst plugins for both as well. Trying to figure out how to do a live stream of my wife and I playing guitar , and running into these questions and it seems you are the one to ask on this subject matter. Thank you for everything you do , keep up the great work! \m/\m/

Hey man great question. I have successfully ran 2 guitars through the Helix. One through the designated guitar jack and another through the Mic jack. I had 2 chains setup on the helix, the mic chain and guitar chain, chose all the amps and effects for each one and set the guitar chain output to USB1/2 and mic chain output to USB 3/4 On Reaper I created 2 new tracks. One track set to receive USB 1/2 and second track to receive USB 3/4 Arm them both for recording and should hear the 2 on their own respective tracks. Entirely depends on your interface but yeah I got it working fine with the Helix that way. Just gotta make sure you can seperate them into their own tracks so you can apply the right plugins / VSTs to them. Hope that helps!

Hey man thanks for the video! I got about 80% through until you got to the Steinberg folder. I do not have that and was wondering where it came from? Either way I proceeded and reastream-standalone was still an option, but now there is no sign of volume through reastream.

I think some software creates that folder. I also have a "VSTPlugins" folder in my Program Files. If Stienberg isn't in there, maybe that one is? if not, see if you can just create your own VST folder and place the Reastream.dll file in there and point your DAW + OBS to it. Hey man! Yeah this has been the way I do it! Basically have one big project in REAPER. One track is where I put all the songs, and another track is my guitar. Just using the helix tones, so all lead and FX stuff is through that. Good because I can double click on each song in the project and adjust the volume accordingly. Instead of changing guitar volume each time, just have all tracks sitting at a good level. And then using ReaStream plugin I send the whole Master Track in REAPER to OBS Desktop Audio, where all other audio goes too.

You could try this other way. 1. Download ASIO plugin for OBS 2. Make sure ReaRoute is included in your Reaper install. May have to reinstall reaper and include it during the installation window 3. In Reaper, on master track or guitar track, click the Route button on track and add a new Send as Reroute 1/2 4. In OBS after ASIO plugin installed. Add new ASIO source / Audio capture source. Select ReRoute 1/2 Should hopefully have audio routing from Reaper into OBS that way too If you get stuck, look up on KZbin “ReRoute Reaper audio into OBS” should help 👍

Yo! So it might not be specifically in a folder named Steinberg after all. Check your Program Files for a VSTPlugins folder, or anything like that. For me when I installed REAPER I think it automatically created these VSTPlugins / Stienberg folders, so hopefully one of them should be there. If not you can always try and create it yourself, and maybe OBS will pick it up, or maybe you can set the folder path in OBS. Keep playing around with it, you'll get something working!

@GrymOfficial
@GrymOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
@@officialjuanibarra that is strange. So you are getting sound in Reaper with your guitar, and you have added the ReaStream plugin as "Send to Local Broadcast" on the Master track of Reaper, and set the same plugin to "Receive" in OBS Desktop Audio? Maybe also double check your audio output device is set to the exact same device in both OBS Desktop Audio and Reaper. It should work if all those are right. There has been a few times where I have set the plugin in Reaper to send audio to local broadcast, and for some reason it doesn't when I close out of it. I go back into the plugin and have to choose it again in the drop down box. Could just be me not clicking on it correctly. But could have also happened to you maybe? Otherwise I am not too sure what could be happening. If it's working in Ableton it tells me the plugin is fine, and maybe it's just to do with audio device or double checking the plugin is definitely set to send to "Local Broadcast" in Reaper. If you have other programs also using the same audio output device other than Reaper and OBS, maybe try closing those to see if they are interfering with the routing of audio. Process of elimination really. Hope you can get it working!
