My favorite summer memories revolve around my Grandmother and vacations to Cape Cod! She loved sharing this beautiful place with me and even sent me to summer camp in Chatham! When I was a kid, we would go up to the Lake of Three Fires with my grandma, aunts, uncles and cousins for a picnic followed by swimming. Then, we would go back to Stanberry (another local town) for their carnival with lots of rides and fun things to do. We would follow that up with fireworks at either my grandma's house or my aunt's house. I absolutely love those memories and wish my kids and granddaughter could experience that at least once. Thank you for a wonderful show today. Susan is amazing. I love her personality and how her mind works.

Susan what a wonderful personality and energy. Thanks Kimberly for this interview and bringing her books to your publishing company as we know the quality will be spot on. Susan I remember seeing your color wall of stash displayed in a magazine, it was art. My favorite summer memories go back to a wooden swing that was in my grandparents back yard. It was 2 wooden seats across from each other with a wooden slat “floor”. The memories of sitting with my parents, my cousins, my grandma, my grandpa and the stories we shared and were told. Grandma would teach me embroidery as we slowly swung back and forth. Smelled flowers from her flower beds, freshly mowed grass as we cooled off from mowing their huge yard with a push mower, or cooled off from picking bushels of cucumbers for delivery to the pickle factory for sale. I was truly blessed and am so thankful for the simple times.

My favorite summer memories is: i am the youngest of 10 kids. Our whole family got together at my brothers farm and we had a softball game and most everyone played. Most of my brothers and sisters were married and lots of kids. Later we had a picnic. Then we gathered around the piano and sang. We grew up singing around the piano. Music is very important to me.

My most loved summer memories are beautiful days spent at my dear friend’s home on a tranquil lake in Minnesota. Mornings began in a warm robe with a hot cup of coffee waiting for the call of the loons, then a walk through the woods followed by a slow pontoon ride around on the lake often joined by bald eagles. The sunsets are varied each one being even more spectacular! It’s so lovely to end the day with a glass of wine listening to favorites my friend nightly at her piano. That is my heaven on earth! Thanks for asking as I have enjoyed actually writing about this special time in my life!

Thanks, ladies! Today's discussion was fascinating. Love your quilts, Susan! My best summer memory.....when my Aunt let my friend and I come spend a week with her at her beach house in Newport Beach, CA. The house was built in the 30s or 40s, and was right NEXT to the beach....there was only a sidewalk between the patio and the sand! I think we were about age 12 at the time; this was in the late 1960's. My Aunt was pretty chill so she let us have a lot of unsupervised time to play in the ocean and walk the beaches and piers in the area. The guest bedroom was upstairs, facing the ocean, so we kept the window open so we could hear the waves and feel the salt breeze all night long. Not a care in the world. That week was heaven on earth!

My best summer memory was staying at my grandmother's house in the summer. I loved strapping on my roller skates and skating on the sidewalks near her house. I got to go to the county fair with my cousin. We would spend all day there. My grandmother used to tell me family stories when we sat outside on the patio near her flower garden. I got to watch my grandfather oil paint and also got to watch him build furniture in his garage. I found out recently that I was the only one allowed to do that. I love the new book and am excited to make the Lazy Afternoon quilt. It is my favorite. I'm using fabric I already have. Thanks for a lovely presentation today!

Best Summer Memory was when I was about 10. I lived in Seabrook TX and all of my friends in our neighborhood in Seabrook rode unicycles, about 8 of us had all learned how over the previous few years. There was a huge 4th of July parade scheduled and we all decided to ride our unicycles in the parade! It was fun but the stopping and starting in certain parts made most of them give up. My dad had put an American flag on a broomstick for me so I could lean on it or have a way to restart pedaling with out holding on to something. I was the only one that made it all the way through the Parade day! Great times on the Bay for sure! Happy Summer Memories to you both Kimberly and Susan! What a great show today! Thank you so much!

Dear Kimberly, Great Live today with Susan Ache! Loved it! Yes, the mat at 38/40" wide would be Super Fantastic! What I am using right now is my Olfa 24" X 36" mat with a smaller sized one - 5-1/2" X 7-1/2" at the left side tucked under at the 5" line and taped with packaging tape at the zero side. Works great when you need those few extra inches. I'm going to add Summer Memories to my next order. Best summer memory was spending time with my Grandma Falkie in River Falls, WI. Great show today! Love the basket quilt although I will not be able to sew along. I will watch from afar and maybe someday. Favorite summer memory: A summer day vacation with my young family at a New Jersey beach, Avalon. I am a fussy summer person, as I suffer from heat and too much sun. This was a PERFECT day. Not too hot, sunny or wild in the water. The jelly fish were non existent and the waves were gentle. No sign of Jaws or that annoying seaweed that often tangles around your legs and tries to take you under! Spent the whole day (almost) playing in the waves with my children and husband and I will be grateful for that day for the rest of my life. Everything was PERFECT and the only day at the beach I ever experienced like that!

Best summer memory: The best ever summer was when my "Heart Light" took me to see the icecap! OMG! I got to touch it, stand next to it and the air was so pure, that I became intoxicated by the time we left. I have chronic airway disease (life long) from birth so the air was so pure and clean. I have never been able to experience that till then. It was truly amazing! I have photos of us standing inside a small cave that was part of the icecap. Nature is truly amazing!

Oh my goodness, Kimberly... definitely bring Susan back someday on a live stream! She is such a delight & so inspirational. I cannot wait to see what you have planned with her & Lissa Alexander. My favorite summer memory is with my Nana & Pap.. they had a super big car & literally all 7 grandchildren would pile in. They were far from wealthy, but back in the 80s you could go to an amusement park without an admission fee & just buy tickets per ride. My Nana & Pap were just the best... Love your livestreams so much 🩷

Wonderful livestream! You all made my Sunday morning! So many favorite summer childhood memories, so will share the first one that popped in my head is sitting in lawn chairs with my parents, sisters and grandma stringing green beans, shelling limas and just talking together.

Fabulous live today. My favorite summer memory was when I took my two sons camping and hiking. It was just the three of us and I had no idea what I was doing. We had a blast.
