Trump also asserted that the United States was the wealthiest between the years 1870 and 1913 because of a tariff-based economic system. Trump highlighted that America generated enormous revenue through import duty during these years. Congress introduced the Revenue Act in 1913, which the president suggested harmed American citizens.
