LIVE: Trump Wants To "Take Over" Gaza, World Leaders Reject Plan | Vantage with Palki Sharma | N18G
US President Donald Trump has said that the U.S. would take over the Gaza Strip after Palestinians are resettled elsewhere and develop it economically, a move that would shatter decades of U.S. policy toward the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Trump unveiled his surprise plan, without providing specifics, at a joint press conference with visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The announcement followed Trump's shock proposal earlier on Tuesday for the permanent resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring countries, calling the enclave - where the first phase of a fragile ceasefire is in effect - a "demolition site."
Meanwhile, Palestine criticised Trump’s plan saying that Gazans will never leave despite the difficulties that they have endured.
Trump’s closest ally Saudi Arabia too denounced the US president’s plans. Other US allies in West Asia and Europe also rejected the plan for Gaza, swaths of which are in ruins after more than a year of war between Israel and Hamas. On Vantage tonight, Palki Sharma tells you more.
