LIVE: United Nations Calls for an Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza, Israel Continues to Bomb Rafah
The United Nations has condemned Israel's bombing of a refugee camp in Rafah. UN officials said that they were "horrified" by the incident that claimed more than 40 lives- with some Palestinians burning alive. Previously, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) had warned that "no place is safe in Gaza" amid Israel's fresh strikes in eastern Rafah.
The Israeli defense forces have called the matter "grave" and stated that an investigation is underway. The Israeli forces executed the airstrike after the Hamas fired eight rockets from Rafah towards Tel Aviv. This escalation comes after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Israel to stop its offensive in Rafah.
