LIVE US AIR FORCE HEAVYWEIGHTS KC-135 & RC-135 ACTION • 100TH ARW RAF MILDENALL 09.05.24

Live from RAF Mildenhall, home to the 100th Air Refeuling wing. It is very similar to Brize Norton, with the exception of the very futuristic linking CV-22 Osprey, which is part of the 352d Special Operations Wing (352 SOW).
The 352nd Wing serves as the focal point for all U.S. Air Force special operations activities throughout the European theater for U.S. European Command (USEUCOM), as well as Africa for U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM) and Southwest Asia and the Middle East for U.S. Central Command. The wing is prepared to conduct a variety of high priority, low-visibility missions supporting U.S. and allied special operations forces during peacetime, joint operations exercises, and combat operations. It trains and performs special operations primarily in the USEUCOM and USAFRICOM area of operations, including establishing air assault landing zones, controlling close air support by strike aircraft and gunships, and providing trauma care for wounded and injured personnel.
The 100th Air Refueling Wing is RAF Mildenhall's current host wing and the only permanent U.S. air refueling wing in the European theatre, activated here on February 1, 1992. The wing provides the critical air refueling "bridge" that allows the Expeditionary Air Force to deploy around the globe on a moment's notice. The Bloody Hundredth is comprised of the 100th Maintenance Group, the 100th Mission Support Group, and the 100th Operations Group.
KC-135 STRATOTANKER
The KC-135 Stratotanker provides the core aerial refueling capability for the United States Air Force and has excelled in this role for more than 60 years. This unique asset enhances the Air Force's capability to accomplish its primary mission of global reach. It also provides aerial refueling support to Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and allied nation aircraft. The KC-135 is also capable of transporting litter and ambulatory patients using patient support pallets during aeromedical evacuations.
RC-135V/W RIVET JOINT
The RC-135V/W Rivet Joint reconnaissance aircraft supports theater and national level consumers with near real time on-scene intelligence collection, analysis and dissemination capabilities.
MC-130J COMMANDO II
The Commando II flies clandestine, or low visibility, single or multiship, low-level infiltration, exfiltration and resupply of special operations forces, by airdrop or airland and air refueling missions for special operations helicopters and tiltrotor aircraft, intruding politically sensitive or hostile territories. The MC-130J primarily flies missions at night to reduce probability of visual acquisition and intercept by airborne threats. Its secondary mission includes the airdrop of leaflets.

Got to be said, despite the take offs and landings being slow with a Rivot Joint, KC135 during the day, the chats as ever are amazing. Members always there with Ted and Nikos. A sitting down Nikos during a Q&A session answering members questions, some excellent questions. Like the concept of Nikos sitting down, chilling, more relaxed and it works. Another new prop on show with Wingy on his Spitfire. Plus that square D, why it's there? What squadron served, with same squadrons at Mildenhall today such as the 351st ARW, descendants of the 351st Bomb Group with Fuselage I.D - EP at station 139 Thorpe Abbotts. So education is one of my personal biggest reasons why I remain a member and a TCF member. Love learning whilst enjoying the action and sights. Lakenheath appears and photobombs the live with 2 x F15's in circuit. Nice.. The weather! Good to see that Nikos is more frying than drying here 😅😂. Another chance too hear the Anthems at 16:30pm which is always a pleasure. Who likes the nose art on the Rivot Joint? 'Reluctant Dragon' wearing the tailcode OF proudly.. Red Ted taunts Ted Coningsby, Reggie lunges Red Ted, but rest assured no bears were harmed. Trained stunt bears 🐻.
