I am in N California. This is exactly what it looked like. The moon was really bright here. I sat in front of the house where my eyes could focus in more darkness. Also, I watched through my iPhone, night view and took photos on a 3 second timer at 3x. Magnificent. The show lasted for about an hour. I had coastal mts in the horizon, so I lost that last part of the descent. I’ll be out there tonight!

Saw it in alabama 3 nights. The first time i wasnt even looking. My daughter and i were on a bike ride, and we enjoy😢 looking at the sunset. So we were looking, and i was like, wait, what is that ?? I showed my daughter and came back home and told my husband. Then i got to looking online and found out about the comet. The next night i saw it also was super visible to the naked eye. This was the 11 and 12 of 0ct. We had a few real cloudy days where we couldn't see anything. The last 2 times we saw the comet, it was harder to see. Still very awesome!!

Unfortunately I couldn't see it, but I saw and remember well the three comets towards the end of the last millennium, Halley visible only with a telescope. Hyakutake, immense and very spectacular comet, was stretched about 80 degrees across the northern sky from Polaris to south, with a very wide tail spread across the sky. Lastly the bright and beautiful Hale Bopp. Hyakutake remains unforgettable and it will be back in 100.000 years

I went out tonight, had a clear sky and good view down to the horizon between Venus and where the sun set. Sat there until 45 minutes after sunset, scanned the sky with good binoculars, and saw nothing. Will try again tomorrow.

It has been popping into view for me between 30 and 45 minutes after the sun sets.
@loismiller77423 ай бұрын
I almost missed it too, BUT WOW! Here was my experience: It started @ 30-40 min after sunset ( check the “timeL” last night it was about 7:15 when I saw the first hint of it. Find Venus, can’t miss it in left of the night sky. Look to the right of Venus a little higher up in the sky. It starts to show as a little cloudy grey wiggle spot of cloudy something, an odd looking tiny spot of movement. Look a bit southwest just about the arc of how the sunset, high in the sky. It follows the track of how the sun sets as s it falls and descends really slowly. It descends to the horizon like the sun, only slower. Keep watching, it comes out of nowhere. Use your iPhone the camera lens is better than our eye lens to see it. The phone camera lets in more light, like with viewing the aurora. I got incredible pics, even better than view with camera, I turned off flash, set 3 sec timer, at 3x distance. Hold still, don’t breathe or use a tripod. The show lasted about an hour before it fell behind the coastal range of mts here in N CA at the horizon. I live in the foothills of Butte Co near Lake Oroville. Good luck, I hope this helped.

Comets a fixed object in the sky dome. It moves the same speed and directions as all the stars .

It's moving a good bit faster than the background stars if you do long exposure photography that can make it a tricky target to capture.

Nothing better than an 8 inch dobsonian to get into the hobby! If it's in good shape that's a fair price (you could always haggle down to $250 to see if that's a possibility) . Be sure to check the mirrors before final purchase.
