SCAM ALERT! Hello to everyone watching this. Please note we will NEVER promote competitions or prizes in KZbin comments sections. There are parties pretending to be us. So if ANYONE asks you to contact them saying you’ve won a prize and asks for details, please ignore them. Better still, please help us report them to KZbin. You have not won a prize, and it is not us. It’s happening right across KZbin, with collective apologies! Mick & Dan

Hello gents. I find it refreshing that you talk not only about music gear, but also issues that everybody is experiencing on a daily basis. I find Mick’s point of view refreshing and a lot of times it relates with my personal way of thinking. Especially in the analytical / critical way of thinking about everything. I personally could draw a correlation between such way of thinking and my personal feeling. I saw how trying to understand certain situations and actions could lead to a general bad feeling. Of course I am generalizing a lot and that we could discuss this for days, but I don’t want to get into that too deeply. I also had (or still have) an issue with remembering names or certain words. This happens when my mind is subconsciously occupied with something else. And let’s go to a brighter topic. I know Mick is into motorsport and cars. For anybody searching for a performant every day car, I can highly recommend the new BMW M3. It has a lot of room (you can easily transport a 4x12, an amp head and a guitar), great gas mileage (for a sports car) and it is a whole lot of fun on a track.

Just a thanks to Dan, for turning me on to Pat Martino. Sat in a cafe reading, whilst listening to Consciousness live. Watching people live their lives to Pat Martino is like watching a film noir. I also keep having to read the last page again because I was lost in the music. As a drummer / guitarist, Mr Martino’s music is a joy.

Hello legends! I've been following you guys for few years now and, naturally, became a pedal junkie. My pedalboard now came to a state where I have to tap-dance on it in order to switch to a certain sound within a song. So, what I need now is a compact pedal switching solution to solve my problems. I've been looking into the Boss MS-3 switcher which also has some integrated effects which seem to sound decent enough for live use. The way that I would use it is that I'd put a fuzz and wah in front of it, and then use its 3 loops for: 1) Sub'n'up octaver, 2) Boss Angry Driver (I'd also use ms-3 to switch between its modes) and 3) one more drive pedal (Joyo Taichi or Nux Horseman). I would then use ms3 integrated reverb, delays, modulations and possibly some other effects (ring mod, harmonizer, slow gear etc.), and use real overdrive/dist pedals with them. What do you guys think about this idea?

Spinal Tap is a foundational text for musicians man. Just seeing on KZbin how often folks making guitar/music content reference Spinal Tap and whoever the guest is always knows it and laughs and gets in with another quote. They should always be in the conversation of "most influential bands."

Mick & Dan, Fripp didn't use an e-bow for " 'Heroes'" - that's actually several different takes of Fripp standing in different spots where certain notes would sustain forever, and some of those takes were then sent through Eno's synths for filtering. (That's all the weird tremolo electronic stuff sweeping from speaker to speaker.) Given the time & place, it's very likely that Fripp was playing a Les Paul Custom >> Dyna Comp (for sustain) >> Big Muff >> Hiwatt DR103.

Oh, Mick, the Fillmore is really cool - it's kind of like applying the Boogie cascading-gain preamp to the topology and vibe of a Deluxe Reverb. And it can get pretty crunchy, too, in kind of a semi-tweed and semi-brown/blond way.

ebow user for 30 years. here's the secrets: put it over the pickup that you have selected on the guitar (it'll vibrate much faster), turn the volume down at least 1/2 way. Take that tone down pretty far. That's it.
@somebodyelseuk
@somebodyelseuk 2 жыл бұрын
40 years, here. I find it works better on single coils, the pickup selection doesn't matter, but it's best to place the bow over the neck pickup. As for the volume... In a live situation, I don't do anything special, but for recording, I use a compressor pedal as a limiter. Delays and pitchshifters are mandatory. PS. I don't do 'KZbin', but one of the very few things I posted is Amazing Grace done with an E Bow.

Gentlemen, Just returned from Alaska last night. It's still the land of eagles, bear and ravens. Happened to hear some rustling on the other side of some brush and, being human, paused to move around to see precisely where it was coming from. It was a bear, getting after a salmon, about a car's length away. It wasn't interested in bothering with me. The feeling was mutual. All good in the wood. -G

Just missed the superchat cut off yesterday so I’ll try my luck here- I’m thinking of getting a 2 in 1 pedal custom made for me, one side a COB clone, and the other side either a zonk or a mk1 tonebender clone. Which would you choose? The zonk I think is more quintessentially stratty (Doyle et al) but I wonder if a tonebender with the octave from the COB might get into similar territory? Unfortunately it’s not something I can try out before it’s made. Cheers!

@@somebodyelseuk I mean, the whole point of an Ebow is to be able to do that sound without clearing the room. You can't play that loud live anymore, really. But I'll take Visconti's word on this. Fripp must have been hellaciously loud in the studio.

At risk of teaching a granny how to suck eggs - I think people might have had the wrong end of the stick on the 'Big Muff Plugin'. It's a physical pedal that acts as a standalone Big Muff pedal if desired (with stereo I think as well!), but has USB and can be used as an audio interface. When using the software plugin in your DAW, you need the pedal plugged in, because the audio signal is sent down USB, run through the normal analogue Big Muff circuit, then run back. AD/DA involved obviously, but the fuzz itself is analogue. Not something I need, but it's not just a plugin. The naming is definitely not helping.

Yah, this ends up in gun culture. The motherfucker who’s the best with his fists can’t stop the bullet, so that’s what we get next. Etc. It’s also hyper-extended psychological time. Nobody is at as much threat as they think they are. And if you really are, you’re already tooled up. Apple are currently selling watches based on the fear you might need it. It’s all fear. Fear leads to defensiveness, defensiveness leads to violence. It probably won’t happen. But if it does, it does. Better to live truly without fear I reckon. It’s more peaceful and leads to generally better things. When shit happens, it happens. But it probably won’t. Mick here, obvs.
