“Never knowingly first” and “Endearing shambles” - sounds like the first two singles by the TPS band, as well as the merch. Lovely show as ever. Glad you’re feeling better.

I feel the “red light syndrome”. What I’ve found that helps me is understanding that what you record isn’t permanent. You are in control of everything. If you need 3 takes or 33 takes they do it till you are satisfied with it. And if you aren’t satisfied with it the next day? Do it again! It’s completely okay to take as much time as you need on your art.

Hi TPS - when Mr. PRS comes on the show I'd be grateful if you could let him know that even after 35yrs, my early '88 Classic Electric is still one of the best guitars I've ever played. Many other guitars have come and gone over the years but that one's a keeper.

Get a Super Vee Mag-Lok trem stabilizer to prevent the detuning issue with floating bridge. I put them on 4 strat trem and 2 floyd rose systems and they work great.

My new Bros. Landreth album Come Morning arrived today wahoo! I also got the Boss Katana MkII 100w head and 212 cab. A serious piece of gear that is constantly thrilling me. I also love that the head has a 5” reference speaker in it for quiet practice too. I know it’s not tubes/valves but I’m loving it!!

On the Theme, what people can and cant hear, Im very cautious to say "you cant hear that" or "you must hear that". We hear and percieve sound very differently and very different parts of sound/tone are important to us. Important thing, are you happy with how your rig is responding to you. I have a good friend, who is playing strats longer then I live and has some national no.1 radio hits under his belt. He found in last 5 years, that what irked him about sound on his strat was anything other then positions 1 and 5. So now he is back 3 way switch, where he only use 2 positions and has only tummy coil instead of middle pickup.

I just recovered from Covid, I am early 60's and Asthmatic so it was awful, still feel completely wrung out but really feeling the need to play guitar as much as possible, maybe a good walk next to the tall guy with the black robes and the sickle gives one some motivation that was missing before. Anyway, seems my ears are a bit wacked out , nothing in my rig sounds correct now, not a volume thing but actual tones are very different, anyone else having changes to hearing after Covid?

Yes, I did experience that too. Everything sounded a bit muffled. It has gone back to normal for me. I hope yours will go back to normal asap too!

Rosie is an absolutely stunning, gorgeous animal! So much so that even my wife, who usually rolls her eyes when she sees me sitting in front of “those guitar guys from England”, commented on her beauty and behavior…. Regarding what to do when uninspired to play, I attempt to solve this by watching about 45 minutes of Tom Bukovac’s “Home Skoolin’” videos. I almost always want to pick up my guitar and play after that…..🎸 YMMV.

Re: Fuzz Face/Tonebender circuits, someone in the chat mentioned the Crazy Tube Circuits Constellation as having FF and several TB modes...it also has a Rangemaster and the "Rangemaster into Fuzz Face" mode that Mick theorized might be interesting. It is! IIRC, it was Pete Thorn's favorite mode in his demo of it, which inspired me to pick one up--and I'm very happy with it.

On enjoying gigs…there is a point where you need to separate ego from the performance and not make the gig the be all and end all of how you feel about yourself and your playing. In reality it took me years to get close to this and i still fall into in occasionally but it gets so much in the way of enjoying making music.
@ThatPedalShow2 жыл бұрын
For sure the gig is about making the best music you can as an ensemble. But there’s no way of avoiding the fact that that music may have been worse because of your average playing. That’s what I’m talking about. Cheers.

I love how with all the fantastic amazing delays around, as soon as they want to show how the David Bowie track is done, out comes the Boss DD200 (which, to be fair, Mick and Dan have always been really really positive about, and which makes me happy as I've already got mine!) Thanks guys, that was indeed a really use demo.

What are your recommendations for a switcher of 5-7 pedals? Like GigRig QMX, but it's not what I'm able to get where I live. I'm looking for sth good enough not to struggle with sound loss (or possible noise issue) with bad quality of it. Let me know if you have any ideas

I don’t worry about the red light I always play like it’s on We record every jam every rehearsal every show I just try to create the best music I can in that moment I usually give the first 3 passes the tightest closest go then take 4-6 if I get them I let it rip and comp the best parts Then If I don’t comp the mixer gets the best takes first then most creative later

I’m no expert with red-light fever but at a few points in my life session work has been my main income. The best thing I found to help me was to spend more time getting it sounding right beforehand. I always play and perform better when it sounds right. Any time I’ve thought ‘ah That’s good enough, I’ll fix the sound after’ it takes me way longer to get a good take. The other thing I’ve always done is set up templates and have everything plugged in ready to go. That makes a big difference.

Question for PRS, (Sincerely) he has created some of the most beautiful looking instruments in the last few decades, but truthfully why did/does he hate lefty players so much… when i actually wanted one and had the fun vouchers (OK maybe a decade or so back BC. - Before Children) he quite literally was not making any, let alone the one i would have liked. I totally understand the extra cost, the pain of manufacturing etc, the fact that we are such a small segment of the addressable market blah blah, but just about every other manufacturer makes the effort - what gives? I know it is his company he can do as he likes.. not a dig, just a genuine question. Edit: That’s it i might have to change my handle to ‘polarbear335’

Great show again gent's, Friday's show with Shawn was epic you get the most interesting guests & they all seem to be really nice genuine people , which in your business sometimes isn't always the way !! Although it's normally the talentless ones who are the biggest A## Holes , obviously there's exceptions i.e Malsteen , Townsend etc . P.S it's a good Shawn such a good guitarist , I mean he's such an ugly bugger !! And yes of course I am jealous . LOVE and PEACE to everyone.
