@@GavDuggan1983 She is definitely a wife material. :) But 2 person with OCD is not the best match believe me.

"Treatment is not to get rid of the thoughts. TREATMENT IS TO EMPHASIZE THE IRRELEVANCE OF THE THOUGHTS." Never thought after 3 years of finding out I have OCD I'd still learn more about it. OMG I ended up laughing with the anecdote of the dog at the end LOL!

The problem with" irrelevance" is that OCD fears are--or at least can be--based on very real fears: public doorknobs are filthy with germs , people do leave the gas burner on and walk away (I've done it myself), people leaves their homes without locking the door (again, I've done this). So the problem is not the fear but the compulsive response to the fear.

I agree with you. But from personal experience, I often feel that the OCD fundamentally taints how I feel and how I process the fear. Once the OCD goes, the same reality exists but I feel completely different about it. So in this sense, I believe it is correct to treat it as irrelevant. OCD obsessions are always bullshit in my opinion with the benefit of hindsight

@@GavDuggan1983 I think this is a very important consideration. I don't think that "irrelevance" is the correct term (st least not for me) because, as I said, the fears (germs on a doorknob, leaving the stove on, etc.) are quite legitimate. The problem is with the amygdala which keeps sending thee same danger signal over and over--that is, the fears aren't the problem--the malfunctioning amygdala is. Calling the fears "irrelevant" is just another case of trying to use logic to deal with OCD and that's not going to happen. OCD is an emotional disorder and must be treated accordingly.

But why groinal responses happen, is that because of anxiety or??

It happens because you keep thinking about it. The act alone of thinking about it triggers those systems in your body.

I just wonder, they use the word "thoughs" a lot, but like, I would be okay hahing this thoughs and images all day long, if I didnt felt like Im actually liking them, that's what makes the issue, i would be just fine with naked men on my head all day long, as long as I dont feel nothing
