Get rid of those Autolite plugs as well.... NGK or Denso Iridium Platinum spark plugs only for Toyota's....

Wanted to thank you for this video. I had a misfire on cylinder 2 today on my Camry and I replaced the plugs and coil and it helped me do it without damaging anything in the process. I let it idle for about 10m and drove it around town without and stutter or any of the issues it was having and no check engine light coming on.

Never go cheap on coil packs, especially for Toyota vehicles as they eat this things for breakfast so instead get the Denso brand if not the original equipment from the dealership.

I may not always get the parts from the dealer, but I always get parts from the OEM manufacturer and from a reputable parts source.

For Toyota sensors and electronics go OEM or NAPA which is usually re-boxed OEM Denso Toyota parts. Most Toyota electronics and such last 12 to 23 years between failures so it pays to buy some parts OEM. Instead I normally buy DENSO brand parts from Rock Auto which is owned by Toyota and is the OEM supplier to Toyota usually for 1/3 the price of going to Toyota!

If the spark plug body is nickle plated you do not need anti-seize the nickle coating from the OEM does that with no mess. If the spark plugs metal body is black in color like a lot of Ford AUtolite plugs then you need anti-seize.

The 2007 thru 2009 engines 4 cylinder engines are known and documented to be bad at 140,000 mile. The rings pass oil (high oil consumption). Eventually, they leak so much oil, that you will find yourself repeatedly replacing coil packs. This is because a bad spark plug or a fouled spark plug is forcing the computer to push the coil pack harder in order to create a spark and that destroys the coil pack. At that point, replace/rebuild the engine or paint the car lemon yellow and park it in front of a Toyota dealership. Mine's for sale... any takers?

Compression test needs to be done with all plugs out and wide open throttle. That's why you got such a wide variance in compression readings.

Is this a 2az-fe engine? I noticed you pointed out that the firing order is straight line 1234 but everything I am seeing for the 2az-fe which is what my 05 Camry has in it, fires on a 1342 Order.

Apples and oranges. Almost all 4 cylinders fire 1342. The cylinder numbers run in ascending order from the crank pulley.

I have changed my coil packs and spark plugs more than 3 times in less than 3 years. I'm tired of this 07 Camry and the random misfires. What are other causes of misfires? Would a compression or leak down check give me answers?

Most common problems: spark plugs, Coil pack, Spark plug wire or even the Spark plug coil pack connector going bad If your spark plugs has oil all over it’s because you have worn O-rings or you have a leaking head gasket it all depends on your engine type Harder diagnosis Fuel injectors either clogged or broken, Vacuum leaks (could be a small leak or bigger leak (spray soapy water or certain type of cleaner, for example(MAF, Carburetor cleaner, etc), igniter goes bad could also be your piston has lack of compression (depending on which cylinder has the misfire)

Yeah, pull the primary plugs, not the coil assembly, work smarter not harder. Bear in mind it's a misfire not a dead cylinder so the test might not be that conclusive. Misfires aren't always constant, just often enough for the computer to notice. Bear in mind once you do that you will trip misfire codes for every coil you disconnect.

My car check engine light and VSC light turned on at the same time. As that happened the vehicle swerved. so I got off the highway turn off the car and turned it back on and the check engine light and the VSC like both turned off and never turn back on ever again so I took it to AutoZone and even though the check engine light is off the p0301 cylinder 1 misfire Code still popped-up.

On some Toyota/Lexus vehicles certain computer control issues will trigger a VSC light. 'Soft' codes don't trigger the light but there are stored in system.

I Should have seen this video before working on my car I had code p0302, so I changed all 4 plug which we’re maybe the original ones all bad and old , I continued to change the coil for #2 but car still runs at low idle like it wants to shut off, my question is do you think that the clips that connect the coils if I broke them would that be an issue?

I know those clips can get a little brittle. I’ve had the clips break but they still seem to have good connection. If you needed to, You could use a zip tie to make sure it’s nice and tight

U can also reset the idle by putting your car in drive with emergency brake on for about 2 mins the car should reset itself to the right idle

Misfire is when starting the engine will sputter and vibrate and then proceed to run at a low rpm and continue to vibrate hard. You'll definitley feel it in the drivers seat. Dont run the car like that unless youre repairing it quickly. And definitely dont drive it to the mecahnic. Get it towed.

I wanted to verify but the problem was truly in the coil pack not the spark plug. If I replace too many parts at the same time I would be left wondering if it was the spark plug or a coil pack. Now that the car runs fine I have no problem putting new spark plugs in. I’m trying not to just throw parts at it. I did have to have To put anti-seize on the plugs because they were very tight.

I have codes p0300, p0301, p0302, p0303, and code p0304 as your description showed. But you only diagnosed one cylinder/coil pack. What a waste of my time. I replaced all four plugs, coil packs, and fuel injectors and I still have p0300 thru p0304 codes. Your video is a sham showing all 4 cylinder codes.

A PO300 error code is completely different than a PO301 through PO 304. The PO 300 error code is stating that the error is random. This is not what this video is talking about. A random misfire is more likely not the coil pack or spark plug. It would be something like fuel or unmetered air. The title of the video says nothing about a PO300. Your attitude is a bit disturbing. If you don’t understand try asking a question without an attitude. I hope this answers some of your questions. Look for videos that talk about multiple misfire PO 300 error codes.

My first question would be if your air was a PO300 which would be a multiple misfire or was it something like a PO301 or a PO302. The next step would vary depending upon if it was a multiple misfire or just on a single cylinder. If it’s a problem on one single cylinder I would want to know if the compression is good on that cylinder by doing a compression test with a $15 compression tester. If it’s a multiple misfire I will probably start by checking the fuel pressure to see if something like fuel is causing a problem on all the cylinders at the same time. I found that American plugs don't work in Japanese cars. The engine was built in Japan even if the car was built in the uS. Also, the Bosch plugs usually don't work either. The bolts are 6mm, the heads are 10mm. The engine started because of residual fuel in the sysrem. It would only run for a couple of seconds. Last, but not least, you get what you pay for.
