@@sktan3743 I don't like trump I think he's an idiot an serves as an example of why the US should have higher taxes on the wealthy, especially estate taxes. However, one thing to keep in mind here is that the US is the world's consumer. We buy garbage from everybody, so much garbage that we have dollar stores in almost every town, sometimes two. We have so much garbage that storage rental facilities are better investments than apartment buildings, strip malls or office space ( full disclosure I own some). If the US decides to turn the tide on consumerism that's going to be bad for everyone. Trump clearly doesn't know how tariffs work. The buyer pays the tariff, not the seller. Tariffs make it more expensive to import products, but the producer of those products doesn't pay the extra, the buyer does. If a particular product is too expensive to import into the US, then the buyer will look at other sources that are not subject to the tariffs. People, including Trump, seem to think that the country that the tariff is imposed on, pays extra. That is NOT the case, the end consumer (you) pays extra.

@@richevericheve5156 It won't work that way. You can't just start an industry in the US overnight. It takes years. @@SONMINHTRAN1 If you think that's going to happen, you must be very naive. What industries are going to make a comeback? Five hundred years of Western hegemony has ended, while the global majority’s aspiration for a world order based on multipolarity and sovereign equality is rising. This incisive book addresses the demise of liberal hegemony, though pointing out that a multipolar Westphalian world order has not yet taken shape, leaving the world in a period of interregnum. A legal vacuum has emerged, in which the conflicting sides are competing to define the future order. NATO expansionism was an important component of liberal hegemony as it was intended to cement the collective hegemony of the West as the foundation for a liberal democratic peace. Instead, it dismantled the pan-European security architecture and set Europe on the path to war without the possibility of a course correction. Ukraine as a divided country in a divided Europe has been a crucial pawn in the great power competition between NATO and Russia for the past three decades. The war in Ukraine is a symptom of the collapsing world order. The war revealed the dysfunction of liberal hegemony in terms of both power and legitimacy, and it sparked a proxy war between the West and Russia instead of ensuring peace, the source of its legitimacy. The proxy war, unprecedented sanctions, and efforts to isolate Russia in the wider world contributed to the demise of liberal hegemony as opposed to its revival. Much of the world responded to the war by intensifying their transition to a Eurasian world order that rejects hegemony and liberal universalism. The economic architecture is being reorganised as the world diversifies away from excessive reliance on Western technologies, industries, transportation corridors, banks, payment systems, insurance systems, and currencies. Universalism based on Western values is replaced by civilisational distinctiveness, sovereign inequality is swapped with sovereign equality, socialising inferiors is replaced by negotiations, and the rules-based international order is discarded in favour of international law. A Westphalian world order is reasserting itself, although with Eurasian characteristics. The West’s defeat of Russia would restore the unipolar world order while a Russian victory would cement a multipolar one. The international system is now at its most dangerous as the prospect of compromise is absent, meaning the winner will take all. Both NATO under US direction and Russia are therefore prepared to take great risks and escalate, making nuclear wan increasingly likely.

A warning is a sign that it is incapable of stopping the process. If it could, it would have already screwed us without the need to give a warning.

And how will the United States live without importing from the BRICS? I'll give you an example: Brazil exports more to the BRICS than the United States and the EU combined, and the tendency is to increase. Since 2018, Brazil has exported more to BRICS members than to the United States and the European Union (EU) combined. Furthermore, the BRICS, now with 11 countries, represent a large part of the world's natural resources, including 72% of rare earth minerals and 42% of oil. The current Brics now contribute 31.5% of world GDP, while the G7's share has fallen to 30%. The BRICS are expected to contribute more than 50% of global GDP by 2030, and the proposed enlargement will almost certainly advance in this direction.

Since coming back to the U.S. after 15 years in Southeast Asia, I have felt that U.S. dollars aren't the same as they used to be. Now sort of like Monopoly money. Shocking how little they are worth, with even laundromats now offering change for $20 bills (used to be $5 maximum you could change in a laundromat). Especially after coming from Thailand where people have so much pride in all their coins. And people actually throwing pennies and other low-denomination coins on the ground here in New Orleans. A new international currency may be a good idea, but it has to be fair to all parties involved worldwide - maybe the UN should make the decision.

Tariffs won't bring job to America because even with tariffs cost of production in America still have hard time competing with China that can produce goods incredibly cheap - it will just burden the consumer in America.China has markets worldwide & won't die even if no exports to USA at all. USA however cannot do without importing cheap goods from China or inflation will hit hard
