She's into the political stuff big time, and has been giving free performances throughout the HRC campaign (since Iowa, according to her speech). I believe she did the same for Obama, but to a lesser extent. I think she seems so subdued b/c she is just practicing the singing part and doing a sound check, and she probably kept her back to the audience most of the time b/c it can be distracting to rehearse with all that was going on in the convention hall.
