She doesn't like Trump. Margaret Thatcher was a monster, especially to the North of England. In terms of the worldwide political elite, Trumps on his own for now. Aside from his own administration, the only external politicians he can trust is the Polish PM, Farage, Le Pen, Wilders, and maybe Putin. May spent 5 years next to Cameron. She's all talk no action, unlike Trump.

Hard Brexit is actually just plain old Brexit... i.e - Leaving the EU. All this hard and soft Brexit is pure deceit and deception from the remoaner media, industry, political class and voters. There was no mention of hard and soft Brexit before the vote but not a minute goes by since the vote without that deceit being mentioned. Seriously was there anyone out there that voted to leave but wanted to stay in the single market? If there is then they are an absolute moron.

I've been very impressed with Prime Minister May. She is the kind of leader the United Kingdom needs right now. I can understand her hesitation at first about Brexit, given the political climate in UK and Europe, but I think she knows Trump's win is changing the entire world game, so she knows doesn't have to play along with this EU crap anymore.

Rainier7777 : You need to look at the content of her speech, she was relating how the US entered WW2 after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour, so then coming an ally of the UK in defeating the fascist tyranny engulfing Europe and World. Mind she probably didn't mention Germany as it would probably offend Merkel, what with the forthcoming Brexit negotiations coming up - she was being diplomatic!!

But say they wanna punish Britain lol this speech shows who's on the back foot it's Europe!! Britain will get a deal like no other country cause both country's invest hugely in each other & probably be free movement from UK USA because so many work in each other's country's. I was a 'Sloane Scholar' and very proud of my time in America. I came to love America, even though I elected to returned to the UK to bring up my children and pursue my career. So, I was very personally sad to see our countries drifting apart and for my country to be sucked into a political union with European countries. It's all turned round in a few short months. I can hardly believe it. I think that we both need each other to stabilise each other though mutual encouragement and free trade. No doubt we will be knocked down occasionally and wobble even more often, but knowing that we are not alone on the journey will make it easier for us both.

We should not argue about what has happened in the past, we should look forward to what we can do with our new leadership in the UK and across the Atlantic, our cousins. to be precise on what happened was that in the UK we have a government online petition creation website where anyone from the public can start a petition on any issue and if it gets over 100,000 signatures then the issue will be debated in parliament. Here is the website petition.parliament.uk/petitions?state=open - you can see the range of issues that get submitted. At the beginning of his campaign someone created one of these petitions to ban Trump from UK and it got something like 3.5 million signatures! The issue was brought up but swiftly dismissed by members of parliament, sensibly in my opinion. But you can see why it was an anomaly, no petitions get that many signatures.

May was a lukewarm 'remainer' and was practically invisible during the Brexit campaign; she made a calculated decision that 'remain' would win and kept quiet. Once 'leave' won, the Tory party's 'magic circle' realised that the 'leave' Tory candidates couldn't keep the party together; May became the only option. That said, she is a serious politician and will likely deliver on Brexit, and win a handsome parliamentary majority in 2020 (or sooner depending on the action of 'remoaners' in Parliament). She is, however, not Margaret Thatcher II.

The calculus of May speaking to the Pubs first, rather than a joint session of Congress, is staggering. This is a direct slap in the face to the Democrats. And it is one so very well deserved. They have proved, once again, their utter incompetence in governance. I am concerned, though, that May has been dragging her feet on Brexit. I hope she lives up to her own rhetoric.

The islamists are heavy in london and didn't really spread across the nation unlike the other eu nations. They are a manageable problem just like in america where muslims only make up 1.7% of the population and are mainly concentrated in the urban areas like most immigrant minorities.
@lapamful

What a load of nonsense she's saying. May is outstripping Hillary and Obama in her immigration speed. At this rate, Britain would've moved the middle east a LOT closer to the US by Islamising by 2030. That's a little over ten years away. Already, Muslims who live in Britain have become major exporters of terrorism around the world and May said she'll stand up for the rights of British Muslims to enter America! Britain had their Bexit vote but didn't get a change in government. May was against Brexit too. Britain needs new elections and needs Nigel Farage in charge quickly so that the uK can become a proper player on the world stage and start the push-back against Islamisation.

lapamful Farage will never be elected as the UKs leader, even if a new election took place the way our political system works means he would have to be the leader of the party that wins a majority, that won't happen, plus he can't even win a seat as an MP

Wow... Scared of Iran's influence and strategic alliances in the Middle East while protecting its borders in a region plagued by your direct and proxy wars for over 20 years and despite 38 years of the harshest sanctions known to man? Which should we believe when you talk about freedom and prosperity? Your words or your actions? How many more innocent people have to die to satisfy your never ending greed?

I am happy Britian is speaking so positively going forward. Alliances are important for seperate countries as it should be. That is what makes each country interesting. And the people from Britian that I have met myself I have always enjoyed speaking with them. I hope we can do many more things together as Allies in new ways.Both Countries have to make changes with the times. We must maintain our primary ideas and values and not be quiet. Not forcing others to be totally like us.I agree we must stop the violent extremist.But not alone. We do not need to be the boss of everyone nor does anyone need to be the boss of our country.

And let us not forget that famous quote of US Navy Commodore Josiah Tattnall in 1859, when justifying - in his report to Washington - his decision to aid the hard-pressed British in a military action during the Second Opium War (contrary to his standing orders): "Blood is thicker than water" Quite (and it goes BOTH ways) !! Raise the commitment to 9%. Then we'll talk Terri! The US contributes more to NATO than all the other 27 together. Double I think. Poland contributes 9%. Britain=2%. That's of GDP and it's the min. 2%. Only 4 countries are at or above. Greece is contributing the third most.
