The most important thing right now is the ongoing rescue operation. They must notify family members first of any casualties or survivors.

This is not a rescue operation. It is a recovery operation. That water is 36 degrees and approximately 8 ft deep. Hypothermia occurs in just a couple of minutes. All 64 passengers, and 3 helicopter crew, are very likely deceased. It saddens me.....

THIS is why i stopped flying. Literally quit my job because I met an ATC from DFW. She was not an intelligent person, and spoke multiple times of "Microdosing", and was very wild. Knowing the FAA allowed this person to become an ATC literally drove me to quit my job where I was flying on 4 flights a week. If they would hire this person at DFW, they would hire anyone anywhere. Not all aircraft have the most updated tech. That said, some resolutions don’t work close to the ground because there is no room to do so. See and avoid is normal operations and the helicopter pilot reported the airplane in sight to ATC.

The helicopter was told to pass behind after reporting the plane in sight. Not unusual at all. The plane was on an approach according to ADSB data, so not likely to be banked “hard” unless he saw the helicopter at the last second. He was reportedly on a stabilized, normal approach exactly where he was supposed to be.

Pray for the 1st responders working in the toughest conditions for their safety and success. And Pray for Unity between Republicans and Democrats; people of both idea sets are involved. The healing of America can only happen when we learn to accept each other and work together. My question is about this update: Why isn't SecDef Hegseth not involved? As a former 45 year Army veteran I know that within minutes the SecDef could have known who the commander in charge of that Blackhawk is and have answers as to why it was there and who was on board. I appreciate seeing Sec Duffy being involved up front.
