WTF is Troopz on about? 4 of the 5 goals Liverpool scored last night came from the mistakes of players that Emery signed. First goal, Lichsteiner kicks the ball straight at Mustafi which ricocheted off him and ended up in the back of the net. Second goal, Sokratis slides in way too early which gave Firmino loads of time to dribble around him and score, third goal came from Torreira giving the ball away and the 4th was again Sokratis' reckless challenge in the penalty box.

Smart spending isn't a thing in Arsenal...we neither spend big nor do we scout proper talent...we are stuck in between cuz the board are cheap and the scouts aren't that good. Talk about smart spending when xhaka and sokratis combined are worth like 60 million together yet we still need players in their same exact positions. Worst thing is they're not even sellable with a fraction of the price they were bought for. On the other hand, liverpool got their best players from scouting..they didnt cost much and they can sell the front 3 they've got for all that arsenal is worth!

It took him 5 years at Dortmund. The structure at Liverpool is top class and has enabled them to compete for titles. Liverpool will win the title this season. We should stop looking at the past and look forward. 4 out of the top 6 teams have done better than us in the past or present. Need to stop the trophy argument unless it's Spurs. Everyone talking about all that investment for Van Dijk, forgetting that Robertson is 13 mil, Arnold an academy player, and other main CB Gomez was about 3 mil. Obviously without Van Dijk it would be completely different picture. But people need to understand that it's not just about splashing big money, you need proper recruitment team and great coach who can discover and develop talents. Just take Guardiola and his City: Otamendi 40mil, Laporte 60mil, Stones 50mil, Mendy 50mil and Walker 50mil. Still it's been the case so many times that their defense is always weak when exposed to continuous attacks. If they weren't so good offensively and were the ones on the front foot most of the times god knows where City would be as a team.

Well said Troops, he's spot on with his assessment, a new Manager coming in usually means major investment in the team, not so for Emery. don't forget the cash that came in from the Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott & Giroud sales also. £50m for Emery is an insult when taking into account the TV revenue, Premier League payments, gate receipts, Merchandise income etc. Emery's side up until the last 2/3 weeks showed his Managerial talent, he had them looking to be a team really on the up, 2 or 3 players short of a great side, recent games have demonstrated lack of depth in the squad, ageing players & the shortcomings of discount buys. Arsenal clearly needed cover at Right Back but Emery didn't imho have the funds, the only option was sign on a free a formerly half decent player in Lichtsteiner, however he was on a free for a reason, his legs are gone. Nobody drags more out of veteran players than Juventus so common sense tells you if Juve don't want him stay away, but Emre gambled out of need & lost. Emre has worked miracles considering but just like at my club Man United under current ownership Stan Kroenke full potential will never be realised. for The Glazers & Kroenke it's about invest just enough to retain presence among the high earners, top 6, Euro competition, International TV views, merchandising, etc, etc securing a decent profit. We should probably think ourselves fortunate our clubs need success to secure European Football & associated TV revenue & that we have relegation from the Premier League. What would these guys invest if the paying fixtures came round season after season regardless of results as in the U.S.A with the NFL, NBA etc. Personally I believe clubs being bought & used as profit making cash cows will be a serious threat to our games standing in Europe, if the Germans & Spanish clubs for example got their income earning act together comparable to the Prem clubs we'd be left behind. La Liga & Bundesliga clubs generally are owned by the fans/members & all funds go back into the club. Now consider clubs in all 3 leagues turnover the same, for example £500m each, however the Prem owners annually take out 25% turnover dividend payment as owners, that's £125m per season less spent on buying players, wages, youth etc, it would not be long before we dropped right back, as such interest would drop hence TV revenue & so on, before you know it we're the 5th most popular league in Europe. For evidence look at Seria A, after Italia '90 it was the League to watch, the best players, highest wages most successful clubs etc, think of the A.C.Milan side mid 90's, Juventus same time, Inter Milan, even clubs like Sampdoria & Parma European Cup Finals, UEFA Cup Finals etc, each side full of great players from across the globe. By the early 2000's Serie A had dropped to 4th in popularity, income, TV audience etc, why? Because of the owners, Berlusconi at A.C.Milan was caught up in several scandals & instead of putting money in was cooking the Books, Parmalat the Parma backers wen't bust after a corruption scandal, Juventus were skint due to their owners Fiat cars financial problems, the same at Inter Milan as the Italian Oil Baron Family that owned them ran short of funds after allegations of Tax Fraud, dodgy deals with Gaddafi & corruption securing Oil contracts.Do we really need such dirt in our game? People might think this a non starter but for me, in future anyone buying a club or a controlling interest should be subject to a rule restricting the percentage of profit they can take out of a club, a figure or percentage that deters purchase for profit deals, a figure that ensures the financial well being of the club, continued investment & most of all that the money earned by our game, stays in our game, not disappearing off to some Redneck backwater in Texas where some Football club owning, profit squeezing Billionaire interbred Bond Movie Villian type is living the high life in what in Europe would constitute a small country but in Texas for him is a private fiefdom in which you can imagine him sitting in his living room on the phone to his Investment Broker saying " How much did I make from my Sockcaar team this week? Is it Arsenal Hotspurs I own, or Manchester & Liverpool United Albion it's called? Anyway who cares so long as those crazy Limeys keep giving me their money." .
