My second Liverpool Cathedral video: the first was one of the first videos I uploaded to KZbin, and it is still there on my channel. And it is rubbish! So here's a much better one from the end of June 2010, when some ringers from the Chesterfield area went on an outing that finished at the Cathedral.
Liverpool Cathedral is big. Absolutely huge. This video does not do it justice: you have to go and see it for yourself, even if you aren't a ringer it is amazing. It is the only church with lifts built in to go up the tower, and the lifts are very fast, almost teleports! Or is that just how I've edited it...?
The tower contains the heaviest bells hung for full-circle (normal) ringing, the tenor (heaviest) weighing in at 82cwt (or just over 4 tonnes). The tone of the bells is such that it makes it incredibly difficult to hear individual bells, though it can be done.
Part two is coming soon, so make sure you don't miss out on the Belfry and the Roof by subscribing!
