Stephen literally claims that a group of serious drug dealers, who'd killed, were chasing Stephen until he took his Ballyclava off, they realised it was him, then started begging him like "Stephen we didn't know it was you, we're sorry" then they run off. Another story Stephen told was when he walked into a room with 15 killers who were all bodybuilders, Stephen starts threatening all of them while he's unarmed. They're all terrified and don't say a word. His whole book is full of that

It’s great to hear Stephen French talk about racism and martial arts. He speaks the truth, in the dojo/dojang/mats everyone is equal, no matter skin colour, religious belief, money. For those couple of hours everyone is on equal footing and what you learn and understand there translates into society and the way you act, you can see the injustices in the system and the oppression to groups and feel empathy for everyone. True this I lived in dingle as a kid and the blacks lived in one area the Granby triangle. They were always chased from town by plod, I went to St Patrick's too but back then I don't remember many black kids there, sad part of our history.
