What an absolute shame, such well constructed buildings should be repurposed not left to rot.

I think it would benefit the community around it in the long term if the tenements were restored

Eldon Grove was used as a film set in the TV adaptation of War of the Worlds a few years back. It stood in for a devastated turn-of-the-century suburb. There are photos of it on the Echo site. It would be a crime to let such characterful buildings be demolished., but the latest Google satellite imagery shows that the roofs are now disappearing too.

Sad to see, lovey old buildings, probably uneconomic now to renovate. The passage of time will only make demolition more likely.

This estate would benefit from the £1 home schemes previously used in Liverpool, and elsewhere. Its of a higher quality than the older terraced houses too. Given the view, it will still be a des res location. Particularly with current housing shortage.

Problem is now it’s next to the Mersey tunnel entrance, the fumes from the traffic have made that area the asthma capital of the UK.
