Slots tactics was desperately needed. Playing 90 minutes of Klopp ball at such a high intensity to press and suffocate teams was hard going on and left us vulnerable if one person didn’t quite press at the right time, leaving us open. Slots pragmatism to maintain the press and suffocate teams but to also allow Liverpool time to recover with the ball when needed (and thus still keep the opposition team expending energy) means that we’re breaking teams down in two ways now and you start to see the players losing motivation and growing frustrated

I don’t really understand the narrative that his tactics didn’t work across a whole season. Great vid as always Loz, so happy to finally get one over on Madrid. Definitely agree Salah seems to get in his own head when playing them. I am kinda shocked though that you’re suggesting to cash in on Nunez-I don’t think he’s had a bad game this season. He’s adapted his game well in this system and was able to play some tricky balls that helped keep the pace when we were breaking against them. Don’t think either of his chances yesterday were really easy at all, and think he gets a tap in if Diaz squares it to him instead of going for a header. Be interested to hear your analysis between him and a Jota or Firmino type player in this system. Cheers!

He's definitely more of "A Thinking Man's" coach than Klopp, who sometimes seemed to have trouble changing tactics when we needed him to ! What happens when teams work out a way to make Slot's half time tweaks completely redundant by changing their own system at half time ?

Liverpool fan here. Madrid were without: 1. Militao 2. Alaba 3. Vinicious 4. Rodrygo 5. Carvajal Most of these are starters who would have started against us if they were fit, and the formation of Real Madrid would have been different. But in our defence, we were without: 1. TAA 2. Allison 3. Jota 4. Chiesa 5. Tsimikas. 2 starters and 3 backups. We all know Jota is a super-sub, and Tsimikas would have replaced Robbo.

I don’t really subscribe to the idea that “a few of their players were off it” being a caveat as a lot of that was probably down to them being rattled by the fact they were being outplayed. They looked worse because our players looked so good. Surprised you said the atmosphere wasn’t rocking as it sounded amazing at home. It’s usually the other way around because when I’ve been there for your average league game it sounds great when you’re in amongst it but doesn’t always translate to TV but it definitely did for that game

I think the other penalty against Southampton was a bit of being caught in a bad place. Still a bad tackle, but a bad situation where It's more normal for a misplaced tackle. But yesterday, that was some level of really bad defending that challenge. Alberto Moreno esque type of mistake.
