Me and a mate thumbed a lift and ended up getting to the ground at five o'clock! Thousands of green and white scarved Frenchmen were already there. The noise on the Kop doesn't come over at all on this video. When Fairclough scored, I went down about fifteen rows without my feet touching the ground. I remember all the experiences like it was yesterday but hardly anything about the actual game!

Will never forget the Fairclouch goal. Still remember everybody was down on the french defender Christian Lopez cz he didn't commit a fault.... great memories...

Me dad took me out of school at 10am, we went the twelve miles to Anfield, on his motorbike, we was amongst the verts in anny rd end. Still the best day of my life

Liverpool lost the away game 1-0 so when St Etienne equalised we had to score two more to go through. St Etienne were a very good side, so comfortable on the ball. I was in the paddock for that game, to the left were a large contingent of French supporters "ALLEZ LES VERTS!!!!", and, of course, the KOP was to the right. What an atmosphere, of all the games I've seen at Anfield that one stands out - and you can imagine the noise when David Fairclough scored that vital third goal.

St etienne were a fantastic football team then and went toe to toe with us all game.And its a shame you dont see football like this no more because football has changed so much over the years and these days players are wrapped up in cotton wool.And the health and saftey fifa mafia are ruining football with all these nonsensical rules and regulations and we need to go back to pure football...

St Etienne était un club top top à ce moment-là et il a produit beaucoup de grands joueurs. Je suis un partisan de Liverpool. ;)

***** Et tu as vu le nombre de supporteurs stéphanois aussi ? Et si tu regarde attentivement, il n'y avait aucun grillage pour séparer les deux camps adverses. Même si il y avait une zone réservé pour les supporteurs de l'équipe visiteuse. Une époque ou les gens se respectaient encore. Mais en 8 ans, tout a changé puisque il y a eu le drame du Heysel.
