It has been as clear as day for a long time that the playing the ball sideways, backwards, slow build up, triangular passing out from the back style that every team now seems to play just doesn't suit this Tottenham side that does not have the quality of players, particularly in midfield, to do it yet he has stuck with it. Clear as day for weeks that Vicario has needed protection on corners. Clear as day that Son can not play the number 9 role. Clear as day that Royal is not suitable for a left back role. What on earth have the coaching staff been looking at ?

The problem with managers who have a defined, idiosyncratic system is that they put second the individual ways and needs of the players they have to work with. Successful managers all have their ideal system in mind, with the perfect players in all positions, but they win by adapting their systems to match the players

I think Ange has lost some of the players but there is precedent in his career for this that this does not necessarily is fatal. First season of Brisbane (second bottom in the league) and Yokohama (battling relegation), a lot of biography detailed open rebellion from the squad with players trying to get Ange sacked. The difference is that the board back Ange and the next season they won the league. In Brisbane Ange was able to negotiate a contract extension signalling the board backing the manager and winning the rebellion in exchange for Ange forfeiting termination fee (ie if Ange get sack he gets zero payout). The question is whether Levy will back the manager over the players?

So he's shown he can turn around underperforming clubs in the worlds weakest leagues and lets not get into what he did in the one team show that is the SPL but never has he taken a club on that have no real right winning things and get them into finals etc. He fixes underperforming clubs, he doesn't propel over performing clubs or players into the next level.
