I have the Kraken this year and finally learned the foot pedal about a month ago. It's a total game changer. For anyone that thinks they are good at using their remote and clicking in between reeling, etc., it's really not even close. The nice thing is, I still have the remote around my neck and with both being paired, I'm not limited to either one. When I have the rod in my hand and up front, it's nearly exclusively foot pedal. Another excellent video!

How are you running your transducer cable from the shuttle to the trolling motor? What are you doing with the shuttle when you trailer the boat if the transducer is on the trolling motor and connected to the shuttle?
@NickLindnerАй бұрын
I'm usually just using electrical tape to tape the transducer cord to the trolling motor shaft. I'm usually taking the entire setup off my boat during travel and putting it in my truck

What size battery do you run with? What is typical for these units?
@Jb-vc5fq5 ай бұрын
I’m running an Amped Outdoors Lithium battery. I currently have a 52 ah battery, which lasts two full days of fishing. If you wanted more battery run time, you could buy one of their batteries with a higher ah. I’m using the 52 because of the size restriction of my battery compartment. I like the Amped Outdoors battery because it runs at 16.8 v to start and slowly works its way down toward 12 v. When it is up about 13.5 ah I get my best image.
@NickLindner5 ай бұрын
Don’t run anything less than 33ah, in my opinion. I have a 48ah

Is it advisable to shorten the power cord on an LVS 34? In other words do you get better picture with a shorter cord?

Great information. Been using Lowrance for 2 years and been playing with the power source and still not happy with the results. I fish out of multiple boats and this might be the answer. Thinking of going to Garmin. Also been using the ghost and had nothing but trouble. I would not recommend the ghost to anyone. Thanks again for the info.

Great info! While there are a lot of compatible chartplotters in various sizes from Garmin, one of the key things that you get with a bigger unit is *screen resolution* Echomaps are typically 1024x800 whereas GPSMap could be 1920x1080 or 1200, providing a much clearer picture. Go as big as you can afford is my motto :)
@NickLindner5 ай бұрын
Agree! Resolution matters, too. Proper settings are more important, but if you want to max out your experience, it makes sense to get the best head unit.
@teamextremefishing5 ай бұрын
Not so, pixels per square inch is where it's at. My 943xsv blows my 8612 away, as far as clarity goes. Now, that being said. My gain on the 12 is at 72 percent, so there is some clutter. The 943 I run at 80% with no clutter.
@gregdutton82195 ай бұрын
@@teamextremefishing Your comment makes no sense. Garmin 943xsv 1280x720=163.18 PPI. Garmin 8612 1920x1080=183.58 PPI. Garmin 8610 1920x1200=226.42 PPI.
@teamextremefishing5 ай бұрын
@gregdutton8219 well I'll do a video on it and show you the difference. The 943xsv has waay clearer picture. I have both units.
@erics6675 ай бұрын
@@teamextremefishing Then there must be another factor in it being clearer as PPi is calculated as he said, "Number of pixels ÷ size of the image in inches = pixels per inch."

Thank you for another great video! So you don't use the active captain app wifi to screen record? You use an HDMI cable? Was I hearing that correctly?

I actually use the Active Captain a lot. I’ve just been using a recording device with the HDMI cord right now. It’s easier in the boat. The app is nice on ice though because there’s less “baggage” to carry around.

have you noticed forward range is limited by water clarity?
@dannylang79715 ай бұрын
Yes and pollen in water makes it terrible, do not adjust for pollen, unless you write all your setting down on a piece of paper, I would suggest all you new fellows write down all your setting down when you get them close, so if you have any problems, so got something to go by, after you write them down, play with your unit to understand what each setting does, and if you get it too far out of adjustment, you can go back to your paper and straighten it out yourself. You gotta play with it to understand it.😊

All types of conditions will impact the readout and range for sure! I’ll tweak things from lake to lake.
