The William Eggleston photo is superb - beautifully composed and exposed, got to be a vintage dye transfer print - very difficult process, beautifully made and is one of two, from a visually sophisticated and great photographer. Makes it desirable. Is it worth the record breaking price? My view - yes !

It’s complicated for sure. Rarity, importance of work and artist, egos of collectors… in the long run, works are sold for what people are willing to pay. Worth it? To the buyers, one would hope, but at these prices, it’s definitely surreal for the rest of the world.
