This Aircraft is still available on the Aerosoft Store for people who purchased before it was withdrawn. Superbly detailed with high definition graphical elements throughout. We Downloaded the Twin Otter this evening and we're enjoying flying 'the great big pile of the brown and smelly' Flightsim 2020 iteration of this highly polished turd.

Trivia you would not know. After 18 years of accident free flight Golden West Airlines cracked up 2 commuter helicopters in a row in the L.A. basin killing all aboard. So they got rid of the helo's and went to Twin Otters. Shortly thereafter they crashed two of those back to back again killing all aboard. That is the story of the demise of commuter service in the L.A. area. I was traveling to the area regularly at the time and used both to get out to Anaheim. It was roughly around 1974. I took a twin otter from Fullerton to LAX as the only passenger on board during the Carter gasoline shortage.

Re: 15:10 Aerosoft originally had their twin otter on FSX and P3D with great success. I had both versions and enjoyed them immensly. Their in sim checklist system was a shining star of the addon. When MSFS came on the scene they "tried" to do a straight port of the P3D version across to 2020. It was a great big pile of the brown and smelly which Aerosoft just could not make work and eventually removed it from sale. The most believable rumour I came across is that Asobo was aware of the desire to have a working twotter in 2020 and bought the addon from Aerosoft in order to sort it out and release it as part of their Legends series. Unfortunately the total rewrite took much longer than anticipated and got put in to 2024 as a default instead.

@@efrenreyes-c3y The addon had a built in checklist system that would automatically update itself as you went through the procedures. IIRC it would even change switches, etc as you ticked items off in the checklist. To my knowledge it was unique at the time in FSX/P3D. Was a brilliant thing to use.

When it "glitched" around 42 mins you only had just over 50 knots airspeed, a stall warning and the aircraft started to sink. I think the tail clipped a tree.

I got to fly as a passenger on these in the Canadian arctic. I also have flown them in sims…they are not fast but so reliable…

I have a faint memory of a controversy with the msfs version of this aircraft. People made complaints about the sound package that Aerosoft produced, saying it lacked power, so a modder created a 'new' audio sample using a altered king air. Aerosoft took exception to this and in a rather strange move made major SIM modding websites removed the software. The well respected modder felt slighted and removed all their other mods and retired. The community felt Aerosoft overreached and acted in an arrogant manner, also updates were not forthcoming for such a wanted and successful plane. As I say, this is just a memory and not researched, so treat as such.

Horrendous graphics. Cockpit view is awful. What has happened to our once awesome sim. Now looks like a cheap(or not so cheap)game. Terrible.

There's just something off about 2024 graphics compared to 2020. Can't put my finger on exactly what it is. When I see 2024 it reminds of nice picture book graphics (Retired teacher with bookstore experience too). If I had this before seeing 2020 I'd be okay with it. Odd.

@@stevef3663 2020 is more saturated than 2024. 2024 is more natural and realistic, but its bordering on whatever the uncanny valley for lighting and weather is called, which throws people off.
